Yesterday, I officially passed the HRCI SPHR. 🙏🏾📚🔥 I know I have been a little quiet lately, and I want to thank everyone for understanding. These past few weeks have been full. I have been finishing finals for my PhD term while also studying for the SPHR exam, and both required my full focus. There were long nights, early mornings, and plenty of moments where I had to pause, pray, refocus, and keep going. This accomplishment means a lot to me. It is bigger than passing an exam. It represents growth, consistency, sacrifice, discipline, and my commitment to never stop learning and elevating. To everyone who checked on me, encouraged me, supported my work, engaged with my content while I was less active, or simply gave me grace during this season, thank you. I truly appreciate it. Now that this PhD term is ending, I am excited to reconnect, continue building, continue teaching, and continue serving through leadership, people strategy, business intelligence, and learning. This season reminded me that growth often requires silence, focus, and temporary sacrifice before the results become visible. May 2026Your marketing team is giving one channel all the credit. And it's probably the wrong one. Here's what's actually happening 👇 Every attribution conversation I've sat in ends in the same place. Last click. (Quick explainer: "attribution" just means figuring out which marketing activity deserves credit for a sale. "Last click" means you give ALL the credit to the last thing a customer clicked before buying.) Doesn't matter if it's a startup or a $50M company. CMOs, founders, analysts - everyone eventually lands here. Not because it's the most accurate method. Because it's the easiest one to explain in a boardroom. "This ad was the last thing they clicked before they bought. Therefore, this ad drove the sale." Clean. Simple. Wrong. Here's what last-click misses: The blog post they read 3 weeks before. The LinkedIn post that first introduced the brand. The referral from a colleague who trusted you. The webinar they attended twice before finally converting. Last-click takes the credit for all of it. It's like giving the referee the MVP trophy because he blew the final whistle. He was there at the end. He didn't win the game. The real question isn't "which channel drove the sale?" It's "what series of interactions turned a stranger into a buyer?" That shift in thinking changes everything, which channels you invest in, which content you keep creating, and where you stop wasting budget. Most businesses don't get this wrong because they lack data. They get it wrong because they never questioned the default. Don't let the last click take all the credit. #MarketingAnalytics #Attribution #DataDriven #B2BMarketing #BusinessIntelligence
May 2026275 million students, one breach, zero sophistication needed and no corporate executives nor government officials instead students and children. Their names, email addresses, student IDs, and course data, now in criminal hands. ShinyHunters breached Instructure’s Canvas platform this week, the learning management system powering classrooms across the US, Europe, Africa, and beyond, then they escalated. Ransom messages pushed directly onto school login portals in front of students and parents. This is the sixth major breach linked to ShinyHunters in 2026 alone. Cushman & Wakefield, NVIDIA, Medtronic. McGraw Hill, Match Group and now Canvas. Same group same playbook but different victim, every single time. Third-party vendor access to OAuth abuse, supply chain blind spots, no zero-day required but just doors that organisations left open and a security team that had no idea those doors existed. The most dangerous words I kept hearing in any security review are: “that system is managed by the vendor.” That sentence has now cost 275 million students their personal data. What to do in your environment this week: 🔴 Audit every third-party platform with access to user data especially EdTech, CRM, and analytics tools. 🟡 Enforce MFA on all accounts from student, staff, and admin, and with no exceptions. 🟢 Map your OAuth permissions today and revoke anything unused, unrecognised, or over-permissioned. ShinyHunters aren’t finding new vulnerabilities, they’re walking through doors your vendors left unlocked. Ask this question today, is your vendor the weakest link in your security chain? May 2026Nobody warned me that the hardest part of BI work isn't the analysis. It's the 10 slides that come after it. I once spent two days turning a piece of work I was proud of into something a room full of executives would sit through and act on. Two days. For a 20-minute presentation. The analysis took less time than the deck. Data people are expected to be translators, numbers to narrative, findings to decisions, and what happened to what we do next. Most of us are just slow at it. What changed for me: I started using AI to handle the translation layer. Not the thinking. Not the analysis. The translation. I give it my findings, who's in the room, and what decision needs to come out of the meeting. It structures the story. One insight per slide. One clear "so what?" per section. The insight is still mine. The recommendation is still mine. I just stopped spending two days on the packaging. For any data person who's ever been at 11pm rearranging slides - there's a better way to work now. #DataAnalytics #BusinessIntelligence #PowerBI #DataStorytelling #AITools
Avinash Kaushik has a rule I now apply to every marketing brief I touch. He calls it the "So What?" test. For every metric on your dashboard, you ask: so what? If you can't answer it, the metric shouldn't be there. I've started applying the same test to ad campaigns. Most teams spend weeks on targeting, creative variations, and bid strategies. Then someone asks: "Why aren't we getting more conversions?" And nobody can answer it, because CTR was up, CPL looked fine, and the dashboard showed green. So what? Here's what the "So What?" test reveals in most funnels I've looked at: The ad was fine. The landing page was confusing. The follow-up was slow. The offer wasn't clear enough for someone who knew nothing about the brand. The bottleneck wasn't the ad. It was everything that came after the click. You can tweak targeting for a month. If the message after the click doesn't answer "so what do I do now?", none of it moves the number you actually care about. Before you touch the next campaign: run the So What? test on every step of your funnel, not just the ad. #MarketingAnalytics #DataDriven #DigitalMarketing #FunnelOptimisation #BusinessIntelligence
Apr 2026I’ve just published a new article on my Medium page, where I share insights on transitioning from a Data Analyst to a Data Engineer, and why Python + SQL are essential for that journey. I’d really appreciate your time to check it out and share your thoughts. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/e2EYypbY Thank you!
Apr 2026Titles are confusing more people than they're helping. I've worked as a Data Analyst. Then a BI Analyst. Then a Digital Product Analyst. Then a Business Data Analyst. Different titles. Different organisations. Different industries. But the actual work? Every single time: help the business make better decisions with data. The dashboards changed. The tools changed. The stakeholders changed. The job didn't. If you're early in your data career and trying to figure out which title to target - I'd stop optimising for the title and start asking a different question: "Does this role actually involve turning data into decisions that move the business?" If yes, that's your job, whatever it's called. #DataAnalytics #CareerInData #BusinessIntelligence #DataCareer
Apr 2026🤦🏽♀️There is a different kind of exhaustion that comes with doctoral work. Not because you are incapable. Not because the goal is unclear. But because the process keeps asking for more of you. More discipline. More structure. More humility. More growth. One thing this journey is teaching me is that persistence is not just about refusing to quit. It is about managing time when the workload gets heavy. It is about staying open when feedback stretches you. And it is about accepting that past success does not eliminate the need to keep learning. As someone who came into this with multiple degrees and leadership experience, I have still had to face a hard truth: Growth at this level requires humility. It requires the willingness to be corrected, to adjust, and to keep moving forward without letting pride interfere with the process. That has been one of the most meaningful lessons for me so far. 📚 Doctoral persistence is not about being perfect. It is about being disciplined and humble enough to keep growing. 💭 If you have been in a doctoral program, what challenged you most first? ⬇️ A. Time B. Balance C. Feedback D.
