Benjamin Franklin wrote this about FIRE PREVENTION in 1735. Not wellness. Not self-help. Fire safety. "An Ounce of Prevention is worth a Pound of Cure." This is the original ROI argument for proactive safety. And it still wins every business case: → $1 in prevention saves $4-6 in incident costs → Near-miss programs cost less than investigations → Training costs less than turnover → Compliance costs less than enforcement Franklin wasn't just a founding father. Apr 2026Like many aspects of business, most value creation in EHS comes down to execution, not ideas. When I sit down with EHS and compliance leaders, the question isn’t whether they need more capabilities. It’s whether they can trust the data their workflows depend on, and whether the information they need to support critical decisions is delivered seamlessly in the systems and decision points where it’s needed. That’s where teams tend to get stuck. Our Supplier SDS Loader, recognized with a 2026 E+E Leader Award, is one way we’re addressing that. When data quality improves at the point of entry, every downstream workflow becomes more reliable: compliance decisions, safety measures, audit readiness. https://okt.to/ypsWOF
Apr 2026🔊 I talk to customers all the time about what AI can do to accelerate product compliance workflows as well as the new risks it introduces. Our customers want to move quickly, safely, and reliably. Most importantly they want to use #AI to #Innovate , have quicker #TimetoValue and become more #Efficient in their execution. 👉 If your are interested in this subject... My colleague Maria Rutland just shared some of her perspectives and some of 3E 's in a new NAEM report on AI. ‼️ The new NAEM report provides useful data to back up what many of us have observed in practice AI use has jumped from 5% to 94% of EHS organizations since 2019. But most of that adoption is concentrated in basic productivity tasks — searching for information, drafting documents, summarizing content. Only 9% of organizations are using AI in ways that are scaled, governed, and trusted for enterprise-wide decisions. That gap isn't a technology problem. It's a data and domain problem. In EHS and compliance, the quality of an AI output is only as good as the quality of the knowledge behind it. Generic tools using internet data from non-authoritative sources and that aren't purpose-built to reason over chemical regulatory lists, jurisdiction-specific compliance requirements, or the kind of granular substance data that determines whether a product can go to market simply are not fit for purpose. When that foundation is missing, you don't just get a wrong answer — you get a wrong answer that potentially looks right, which is even more dangerous. Purpose-built AI tools like ones from #3E can remove that barrier and unlock the possibility of AI acceleration. That's the part of the AI conversation I think our industry needs to have more openly because it can be a game-changer. The full NAEM report is worth reading if you work in EHS or sustainability. Here is what you need to know about the transition: ✔️ SSbD embeds safety and sustainability at every stage ✔️ Helps you anticipate regulatory changes, not just react ✔️ Drives better teamwork to solve design challenges early The bottom line: Early SSbD adoption cuts risk and boosts product value.
