Honored to deliver the keynote at one of Pakistan’s most prestigious CFO Conferences on: “AI in Action: How Pakistani CFOs Are Using AI for Growth & Resilience.” The session was kicked off with an AI-generated avatar video, setting the tone for what AI is already capable of today not as a future concept, but as a practical business enabler. PwC newly launched Global AI Performance Study shows a striking reality: just 20% of companies capture 74% of all AI-driven returns - not by cutting costs alone, but by pairing strong foundations with a clear focus on growth and reinvention. The presentation explored a range of AI use cases relevant to finance leaders and organizations, including: - Traditional AI applications such as plant preventive maintenance, demand forecasting and customer churn etc. - Power of Large Language Model (LLM) - The advantages of Custom GPTs in improving productivity and internal knowledge access - AI Agents for PO processing tasks like invoice scanning, extracting information and posting that in the systems. - AI agents for preparing tax position summary. - Using WhatsApp for use cases like online ordering and using that for hospital/patient engagement. - Avatar and its use cases. Here are key takeaways from my presentation on the Corporate Leadership Perspectives on Sustainability Reporting, drawing on PwC’s Global Sustainability Reporting Survey 2025 at the adidas 2026 Sourcing Sustainability Supplier Kick-Off Event, held in Lahore on April 2, 2026. ✅ Sustainability reporting is becoming business as usual - Even with regulatory uncertainties, the direction of travel is clear. Many organizations are continuing to invest leadership time, resources, and technology. 65% said resources devoted to sustainability reporting had increased over the last year. ✅ Pressure is rising—from all sides - 53% see increased external pressure and 56% increased internal demand for sustainability data. It is becoming Truly cross‑functional – companies now involve ~10 functions on average, led by Sustainability (56%) and Finance (22%). ✅ Technology and AI are reshaping reporting Central data platforms (65%) and carbon tools (63%) are now common; AI use has nearly tripled to 28%. ✅ The real opportunity is value beyond compliance - 70% of early reporters say they’re already seeing value beyond regulatory compliance. ✅ Pakistan perspective – Survey results highlight growing engagement with sustainability reporting, with increased leadership attention, strong interest in ISSB‑aligned reporting, and a clear focus on building foundational processes, data, and governance capabilities. Although I missed my friend Omer Salman at the event, it was encouraging to see the level of engagement from suppliers and stakeholders on embedding sustainability into core sourcing strategies. Collaboration across industries is the catalyst for meaningful change which will shape a more sustainable tomorrow. A big thanks to adidas and Bilal Yaseen for being the hosts for this initiative. #PwCPakistan #StrategicLeadership #Innovation #AFF #AFFerguson #Sustainability #Climate #ClimateAction A. F.
