There’s a tendency to view regulation as anti-business. I’ve probably felt that way at times, but I’ve come to see it a bit differently. In a market like insurance, structure matters. Well-designed regulation creates boundaries. It forces a level of discipline that’s not always natural, especially when things are going well. The part that’s easy to miss is that it also creates consistency. And that consistency tends to matter more over longer periods of time. Where it really shows up is in how companies respond - Some treat regulation as something to work around. Others take it seriously and use it to improve how they operate. We try to do the latter at Accelerant . The goal is to build within the structure of the market, not around it. When that’s combined with better data and more aligned incentives, you end up with something that’s more durable, that’s better for everyone.
May 2026I like a good aggregation chart as much as the next person (okay, maybe just a bit more unless that person is a fellow Accelerant exposure data lover). Clean colors. Overlays. Scales. Just enough complexity to feel serious. The problem is that many of them are beautifully unthreatening. Really the kind of chart I am obsessed with my top goal not because it’s elegant, but because it makes me hesitate for a second. The useful aggregation visualizations aren’t just “pretty.” They’re pretty enough to call for action.
