In 2006, I knew almost nothing. What I DID know was that I wanted to be a real estate lawyer. But where to start? Everyone I asked said the same thing. "If you can get in, go to Allen Matkins ." "What do you mean, IF I can get in?" Youthful arrogance. I called a recruiter. I said I wanted to be a real estate lawyer and I wanted to go to Allen Matkins. She submitted my resume. A couple of weeks later, we heard back. "They're not hiring," she said. "Well, I'm not going anywhere else, so please keep submitting until there's an opening." Youthful persistence. She did. And I heard nothing. For 6 months. Until I got a call. It was my recruiter. "They want you to interview." It was 2006 and markets were on fire pre-GFC and they needed help. A few days later, Tony Natsis called me. "When can you start?" "Uh, Tony, Passover is coming up and I'm going to have to take a few days off for the holiday, so maybe I should start after the holiday?" "Uh, No. Get in here as soon as possible." "Uh, yes sir." Day 1 was April 3, 2006 and this month marks 20 years. And I've never looked back. It has literally been awesome. Upcycles. Downcycles. All of it. Learning from and practicing with the greatest practitioners in their fields, and representing the greatest real estate firms in the world. In the trenches, everyday. Trusted with our client's most significant opportunities and challenges. Shoulder to shoulder with, and across from, the greatest in the industry. And we're just getting started.
