Leadership isn't a title. It's a decision you make every single day and what worked 10 years ago might be quietly killing your team's potential right now. Let's define it clearly first. Leadership is the ability to influence, inspire, and guide individuals toward a shared goal while adapting your approach to the needs of those you serve, not just the demands of the organization. That last part? That's where most leaders get stuck The old playbook is expiring.Command-and-control. Rigid hierarchy. "Because I said so." Micromanagement dressed up as accountability. These were once considered strength. Today, they're organizational liabilities. Here's the honest truth: outdated leadership styles don't just stall progress they drive away your best people, suffocate innovation, and create cultures where fear replaces trust. What outdated leadership looks like in practice ✓ What it once offered Clear chain of command in stable environments Predictable processes that scaled in industrial-era orgs Decisive top-down decisions- fast in a slow world ✗ What it costs you today Top talent exits when autonomy is missing Teams stop innovating when every idea needs 4 approvals Psychological safety disappears and so does honest feedback Real example: A leader who hoards information to maintain authority will lose to one who builds a team that operates brilliantly without them in the room. What modern leadership actually demands: • Psychological safety over performative authority • Coaching mindset over "I have all the answers" • Data-informed decisions over gut-driven mandates • Diversity of thought over yes-rooms Servant leadership is your job is to remove obstacles, not create them. The leaders thriving in 2026 and beyond aren't the loudest voices in the room. They're the ones creating the conditions for others to do their best work. If you're in a leadership role, here's the uncomfortable question: Are you leading for the world that exists today or the one you grew up in? The landscape has changed. The workforce has changed. The only question is whether you're willing to. #Leadership #HealthcareLeadership #ModernLeadership #ExecutiveLeadership #OrganizationalCulture #LeadingWithPurpose #ChangeManagement #LinkedInThought
May 20265 interviews for a single role. Let that sink in. I've been seeing this trend a lot lately and it has become impossible to ignore. I get it hiring is hard. Organizations want to make the right call. But somewhere along the way, a "thorough process" became a performance. Here's my honest take on where the line is. Where multiple rounds make sense- Pros: • Round 1 – Recruiter screen (fair, quick, 20 min) • Round 2 – Hiring manager conversation (makes total sense) • Round 3 – Panel or stakeholder interview (absolutely reasonable for upper senior roles) Three intentional rounds with clear objectives? I respect that process. Where it starts falling apart-Cons: • Rounds 4 and 5 rarely reveal anything new (they reveal indecision). • Candidates are often interviewing with people who had no say in rounds 1–3. No continuity, no context. • No one briefs you differently between rounds (you're just repeating yourself to new faces). • There's no feedback loop. Silence between stages signals disorganization, not diligence. • Top candidates withdraw. They get hired somewhere else by an organization that respects their time. The part no one says out loud: A 5-round process doesn't signal thoroughness. It signals a broken decision-making culture. When no one has the authority or the courage to say "yes," they manufacture more rounds instead. That costs real money. Requisitions stay open longer. Productivity gaps widen. And the talent you really wanted? They moved on. If your org can't evaluate a senior candidate in 3 structured conversations, the problem isn't the candidate. To the candidates grinding through round 4 right now: your time has value. Ask what the remaining steps are. Ask what's actually being evaluated. You're not just auditioning, they should be earning your yes, too. What's the most rounds you've ever sat through?
