May 2026Imagine if when your internet went out, you could rent some from a neighbour who still had service. That’s exactly the concept that earned team Andela 2nd place at the Global Codex Hackathon for OpenAI partners in San Francisco. Before heading to the competition, the team invited the Andela talent network to submit ideas for projects that could be useful in their day-to-day. The team narrowed it down to one idea, built it in a few hours, and was joined by 70+ members of the network remotely testing it live while they were still iterating. Congratulations on the win! GO ANDELA!!!
Apr 2026Huge shoutout to Cory Hymel , Barun Singh , Adelynne Chao , William Marquardt , and Venkat Gali for taking 2nd place at the OpenAI Global Codex Hackathon! 👏🏾 What I respect most isn’t that Andela finished "on the podium,” it’s where our team chose to start. The idea came from a very real problem we pulled from our talent network: What happens when you’re trying to work and the internet drops, the power cuts, or both? For a lot of developers across Africa, that’s just part of the job. So instead of building something abstract, the team built around that reality. They pulled the winning idea from the network, tested it with the network, and even used live feedback during the hackathon to improve it in real time. We picked a different approach than just showing what agentic AI can do. We showed how it can solve a real-world problem. Proud of this team; more of this, please! #ThisIsAndela

Apr 2026Imagine if when your internet went out, you could rent some from a neighbor who still had service. This would be massively clutch for me, as my side of the street seems to have a serious grid issue, while my sweet neighbor Paula across the street never loses power and would happily let me rent some anytime. That’s exactly the concept that earned team Andela 2nd place at the Global Codex Hackathon for OpenAI partners in San Francisco. Before heading to the competition, the team invited the Andela talent network (our secret sauce - the human element) to submit ideas for projects that could be useful in their day-to-day. The team narrowed it down to one idea, built it in a few hours, and was joined by 70+ members of the network remotely testing it live while they were still iterating. Congratulations, team Andela!
