I just took my 2026 Toyota BZ Limited on its first real road trip. Atlanta to Frederick, Maryland, and back. 1,270 miles. 8 charging stops. $125 total charging cost. For comparison: My 4Runner at 18 MPG and $4.50 gas would have cost roughly $318 for the same trip. A few things surprised me: • Apple Maps synced with the battery system made charging stops incredibly easy • Waze traffic + police alerts worked perfectly alongside it • The active cruise system dramatically reduced fatigue on the highway • The charging stops added time… but I actually arrived more relaxed and less tired The biggest takeaway? The real-world EV ownership experience feels very different than the public perception most people still have. It’s not perfect yet. But it’s much closer to “normal” than most customers — and dealers — realize. I wrote a full breakdown of the trip, charging experience, cost comparison, and dealer takeaway here: 👉 https://lnkd.in/e9X32Bjx Question for operators: What’s the biggest misconception you still hear about EV ownership? #EV #UsedCars #Automotive #DealerOperations #UsedEVs

May 2026I’ve been watching how operators react to GPU pressure the last few weeks… CarMax’s GPU decline isn’t just a CarMax issue. It’s a market signal. GPU is getting pressured. Not because used cars are collapsing— but because the buyer is getting more payment-sensitive… and the market is rewarding affordability over margin. That’s the shift. CarMax used targeted price cuts to stabilize volume. At the same time, mix shifted toward older, higher-mileage units—now ~50% of inventory. And demand is clearly moving toward more affordable cars. Retail GPU dropped again— and they’re guiding it lower next quarter. That’s not random. It reinforces what a lot of stores are feeling right now: Two cars. Same price band. Same category. One moves. One doesn’t. The difference? Whether it actually fits today’s affordability window. This market isn’t rewarding “good inventory.” It’s rewarding: – payment alignment – demand fit – low buyer friction If you miss that… You don’t just lose the deal— You compress gross trying to fix it. I’ve been seeing this show up across multiple stores the last few weeks. I broke the full signal down here: 👉 https://lnkd.in/e-xACMHD Operator question: Are you feeling more resistance on price… or on payment? Apr 2026Your CRM is "Recovering" leads. OMNIA is "Working" them. There’s a $20k/week difference. Let’s stop pretending that a lead sitting in your inbox over the weekend is "recovered." Most GMs I talk to point to their CRM and say, "We have lead recovery." No, you have lead storage. If that customer isn't getting a diagnostic answered, a quote explained, or a bay reserved until Monday morning, you aren't "recovering" the lead, you're just watching it expire in real-time. In the 2026 market, Lead Recovery is a commodity. Lead Working is the competitive advantage. When the Friday afternoon rush hits, your team stops "working" the digital leads to handle the keys in front of them. Then they go home. That’s 48+ hours where your most expensive digital assets are left to freeze. OMNIA doesn't just "capture" the lead. It works the lead. It doesn't just say "We'll call you Monday." It answers the "How much?" and "When can I get in?" It moves the guest from "I’m looking" to "I’m booked" while your Service Manager is at a Saturday BBQ. If you’re satisfied with a CRM full of "captured" leads that never turn into ROs, stay the course. But if you’re tired of walking in Monday morning to a list of prospects who already went to the shop down the street because they actually got an answer on Saturday, let’s talk. The weekend shouldn't be a gap in your workflow. It should be the time your AI out-works the competition. Stop recovering. Start working. 📞 Dealers: +1 (229) 800-1543 Book an appointment. Ghost it. Apr 2026You run the shop. I’ll find the talent. 🤝 To the Service Managers spending late nights reviewing bad resumes: Your time is better spent on the drive. To the Technicians applying to dozens of shops with no reply: Your talent is better spent in a bay that appreciates it. The old way of hiring is broken. It’s a cycle of tailoring resumes and "hopeful" interviewing. The Auto Recruiter changes that. For the Pro: Give me a call. I’ll learn your story and find the right place for you to grow—nationwide. You keep working (or relaxing); I’ll find the match. For the Employer: I don't send you "applicants." I send you the right person for the right position. With over 25 years interviewing I can tell you who is genuine and who is acting. Let’s skip the paperwork headache and get back to what matters. Apr 2026Over the past few weeks, I’ve had the same conversation with multiple operators. Different stores. Different markets. Same frustration: Some cars sell immediately. Some don’t move at all. Same price band. Same category. Most people assume it’s pricing. But when you actually break it down… The issue usually shows up earlier. I keep seeing the same 3 things: 1. The unit doesn’t actually sit inside real demand 2. It’s priced “competitive”… but outside the conversion window 3. The listing doesn’t remove buyer uncertainty If even one of those is off… The deal was already broken before pricing ever mattered. I put together a quick 3-check test I’ve been using to diagnose this. Takes about 2 minutes to run on a unit: 👉 https://lnkd.in/eem-XRUC Operator question: What’s one car on your lot right now that should be selling… but isn’t?
