Welcome to the team Nathan Abramoff ! My mission to space-pill all of Andreessen Horowitz just got easier.
May 2026There's a kind of senior engineer who is very good at finding what's wrong with an idea, and not very interested in fixing it. You've probably worked with one. They're often the smartest person in the room. And they're often right to ask the questions they ask. But they can keep a reasonable proposal stuck in review for weeks behind a wall of unresolved Google Docs comments. I call them problem admirers. And it's easy to take them personally, but you probably shouldn't. The interesting thing is they're usually worth having around. The objections are real and their comments baked into the design proposal will make it stronger. The trick is that you have to engage with them before the design review, not during it. By the time you're presenting, it's already too late. I wrote up what's worked for me, both for working with problem admirers and for noticing when you've become one. 👉 https://lnkd.in/gjjg3kyV Does this happen in all industries?
