One brutal truth about IAM careers 👀 Resolving tickets for 3 years does NOT automatically make someone a strong IAM engineer. Many people in IAM support are struggling to switch jobs because they stay only at: ➡ request fulfillment ➡ password resets ➡ access approvals ➡ incident closure But interviews expect something deeper 🔐 If you truly want to move from “ticket solver” to technical IAM roles… this is probably the clearest roadmap 👇 Step 1 — Learn IAM Fundamentals Start understanding: ✔ RBAC ✔ ABAC ✔ Authentication vs Authorization ✔ LDAP / Active Directory ✔ Joiner-Mover-Leaver lifecycle ✔ Provisioning concepts Without this, interviews become difficult very quickly. Step 2 — Understand SailPoint Flow Don’t just close incidents. Understand the SYSTEM behind incidents 👀 Learn: ➡ Workflows ➡ Connectors ➡ Provisioning Plans ➡ Aggregation ➡ Entitlements ➡ Lifecycle Events Step 3 — Learn Troubleshooting Properly Most real IAM support work happens here 🔍 Learn how to: ✔ Read logs ✔ Use Linux basics ✔ Trace provisioning failures ✔ Validate connector issues ✔ Troubleshoot LDAP/authentication problems Step 4 — Learn WHY Things Work This changes everything 🚀 Instead of asking: 👉 “Which ticket to close?” Start asking: 👉 “Why does this provisioning flow even exist?” That’s where real IAM growth starts. I’m currently documenting this exact learning journey publicly through my SailPoint Zero to Hero 60days series 👀 If you’re also trying to move from operational IAM support into stronger technical IAM understanding… start following the series from Day 1 🔐 #SailPoint #IAM #IdentityAccessManagement #CyberSecurity #ITJobs #CareerGrowth #SailPointDeveloper #AccessManagement #LDAP #RBAC #ABAC #Provisioning #LearningInPublic #TechCareers #ITSupport #ZeroToHero

𝘏𝘦𝘺 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘰𝘧𝘧, 𝘐'𝘭𝘭 𝘵𝘦𝘹𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘐 𝘭𝘢𝘯𝘥. . . . My two cents: building models "the old way" (brick by brick) is still the best way to master financial modeling. And honestly, the more I mess with AI and modeling, the less I trust it. Claude has been a banger, truly. I went through the "wow cycle" like everyone else. Then slowly, the cracks start to reveal. Recently, it pretty much sh*t itself trying to put together a basic returns schedule for PE (it was just to help with another LinkedIn post). I prompted multiple times, repeated with no luck, and finally just did it myself. Easily spent 4x the time I would have originally. ⸻⸻⸻ Primary use cases right now - helping with advanced formulas - building dynamic arrays (really enjoying this) - PowerQuery code for quick updates - using Skills to sanity check parts of the model I find it's best when it helps me build automations I can test in real time and then trust that those things will repeat (code, formulas, etc.). And Skills are definitely awesome, but I'm not using them as much as I thought I originally would (though I'm sure that will change). ⸻⸻⸻ So, perhaps as originally intended, I simply prefer to use AI to make me faster. I could eat my words, but don't assume it's here to just replace finance. And 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲'𝘀 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗹𝘆 𝗪𝗢𝗡'𝗧 𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗲𝗻: you building one model in 14 seconds and then taking the rest of the day off to golf. Instead, your boss is just going to ask you to crank out 25 models in that same workday. If it ever comes to that, the people who know the fundamentals will win out in the end. Walk before you run. I knocked on this door… More times than I can count. Most visits ended the same way— no real conversation, no real opening. Until one day in February 2013… The door didn’t just open. It was answered. And what followed… was never just about business. It became about building something meaningful. We didn’t start with systems. We started with conversations. With questions, with patience, with a willingness to understand before acting. There was no rush. Just a whiteboard, a pen… and people sitting together, trying to get it right. Somewhere in those discussions… something shifted. It was no longer about a vendor and a customer. It became a team. Trust built slowly. Ownership followed naturally. And the process… started taking shape on its own strength. Years later, a message came back to me— “Not just about running a process, but about running it right.” He continued… “A process you set in 2013 is still running robust today. We don’t really manage it anymore… we just audit it.” I paused after reading that. Because it said everything. It meant the system was built with care. It meant the team made it their own. It meant the effort… stayed. Standing here again, at the same door… One thing feels clearer than ever— Knocking may take time. But when it finally opens… Make sure you build something that never needs knocking again. #Manufacturing #Electroplating #ProcessExcellence #Leadership #Ownership #SurfaceFinishing #SpecialityChemicals #MKSAtotech
