🌐 "Abundance" is everywhere right now — and CEOs need to know it means two very different things depending on who's talking. On the left, it means government unlocks development — housing, energy, infrastructure. On the techno-right, it means unleashing AI to create unimaginable growth and riches. Same word. Completely different policy outcomes. Elon Musk on Diamandis' Moonshots podcast: "Maybe we'll have better medical care than anyone has today available for everyone within five years. No scarcity of goods or services." Know which version is being sold to you — and by whom. 📰 Read the full Axios C-Suite column: https://lnkd.in/eyVwBMqt 📈 If you're a CEO or on a CEO's team: Ask to join my new weekly Axios C-Suite newsletter: https://lnkd.in/e-MPmDcn
May 2026Several climate startups are coming to market with nowhere near meaningful revenue but big plans for future plants and energy breakthroughs. It's a playbook that may sound familiar to investors and bankers who follow another sector — biotech, where companies use Phase 1 trials to propel public listings. It also means the bankers spearheading these energy and climate IPOs are betting on the most fickle commodity of all: investor patience. The details, ft. insight from Katherine Davis , only in Axios Pro Deals : https://lnkd.in/eG37Quri #energy #climate #climatetech #ipos #ipo #markets

May 2026⚡ 🔥 ⚡ 🔥 ⚡ 🔥 About Fervo's IPO ⤵️ "This entire category needs wins, like, full stop. We need liquidity. We need IPOs," says Tyler Lancaster , partner and co-head of venture for Energize Capital, which did not invest in Fervo, tells Axios ' Katie Fehrenbacher . I can attest to that after having spent more than four years leading a news outlet, Cipher News, supported by Breakthrough Energy . The lack of an IPO was regularly discussed. But this is the thing: Climate in general takes a long time -- a long time to have an impact on our planet, a long time to change energy systems and a long time to scale new tech like Fervo Energy . This is "a very special time for our space," one Fervo investor told Katie. "We've been waiting for this for a long, long time." Read more from Katie in Axios : https://lnkd.in/ginDk-xV
May 2026We published this the other week, but I'm seeing the conversation still percolating on LinkedIn — especially on the eve of Fervo Energy 's IPO — so it made sense to post now. (Also, did I forget to share this when it ran? Yes.) The geothermal developer disclosed last month that its demonstration project is using significantly more water than expected. The results will likely be overshadowed by the company's IPO this week. Even so, they raise fresh questions about Fervo's upcoming commercial plant in Utah. Indeed, while the startup has remained in its pre-listing quiet period — it didn't respond to our request for comment — CEO Tim Latimer has been replying to posts on LinkedIn about these very results. The details, particularly what the data does and does not say, in Axios Pro Deals : https://lnkd.in/eSqvKKeY #geothermal #energy #water #ipo
May 2026Our numbers feel good. Our guts don't. 📊 I've spent weeks talking to CEOs navigating the widest gap I've ever seen between performance and worry. Record markets, strong earnings, nearly full employment — and just about every CEO I know is quietly stress-testing scenarios they've never before imagined. This week's Axios C-Suite is my ranking of the risks keeping us up at night. I asked C-Suite reader and Eurasia Group founder and president Ian Bremmer to stress-test it and share his insights. 💬 His verdict on AI: "It affects literally everyone, and it's happened faster than almost everyone thought." On the Middle East: "Massive supply chain disruption is coming soon ... oil shortages, plastics shortages and longer-term food inflation." 📌 As Jamie Dimon told me last month: We face the most geopolitical risk since WWII. 📰 Read the full column here: https://lnkd.in/eJRsHVDD 📈 If you're a CEO or on a CEO's team: Ask to join my new weekly Axios C-Suite newsletter: https://lnkd.in/e-MPmDcn

May 2026Exclusive: Time is introducing a suite of digital games on its website, including a fantasy prediction market and jigsaws. 🧩 Games have become a popular engagement tool for publishers, helping them drive repeat visitors and time spent as referral traffic becomes less reliable and competition for attention intensifies. "Time spent is the greatest indicator that what we built is successful. Hopefully this becomes much more of that daily behavior that every media company so covets," Time COO Mark Howard tells me. 💰 The New York Times has helped demonstrate the business value of games for news publishers. The Times said Wordle brought "an unprecedented tens of millions of new users" after it acquired the viral game. NBCUniversal just yesterday announced plans to adapt Wordle into a TV game show. Time also plans to launch a registration wall next week that will allow users to follow authors and topics. Future gaming features tied to registration will include score tracking, badges and leaderboards. More details on Axios : https://lnkd.in/eF3YfhSb
