Jun 2026I spent nearly 30 years at Wells Fargo , PNC and Banc of California watching small businesses lose money they shouldn’t have. Not to bad decisions. To invisible revenue. Across 20,000+ owners who came through my doors, I saw the same patterns over and over: - No-shows eating 10 to 20 percent of annual revenue - Cash flow gaps that were predictable if the right system was watching - Clients slipping away with no one catching it - Empty slots quietly costing tens to hundreds of thousands each year 78% of Business Owners admit they rely on "gut feel" to make major financial decisions. This is because their data lived in systems that never talked to each other. I watched the biggest institutions throw products at this for decades. None of it solved the core problem, that's why 82% of small business failures track back directly to cashflow problems and 54% feel they are blindsided by financial issues at least once each month. These small businesses continue to lose money, time, and sleep, without ever seeing clearly. At 53, after nearly three decades in banking, I did something I never thought I would: I walked away from the bank, and I joined a startup: Fynso Because it is the first platform, I have seen that actually closes the loop I watched stay open for decades. Fynso connects your booking, billing, and bank. Every morning, you see where you stand, what you missed, and what to do next. During the day, it catches problems the moment they start. And when something can be fixed, it acts 24/7. Fynso is the financial operating system that actually executes. I did not bet my career on a product I bet it on founders: Michael Sabia and Ricky Hernandez are defining the next generation of finance for small business owners. They are operators who sat through thousands of conversations with the exact owners I served for nearly 30 years. TRUST is the barrier of entry in finance and that is why we've partnered with Drata , the compliance platform behind Notion, Lemonade, OpenAI, Brex, and T-Mobile. We're actively working toward SOC 2 Type II and HIPAA certification. And built what should have existed all along. That is rare. That is why I said yes. And why I am all in, joining the team as Chief Revenue Officer. If you run an appointment or service business You do not need more data You need something that sees what you cannot and acts on it That is Fynso ! www.fynso.ai Comment " Fynso " or send me a message and I will walk you through it personally. Steve Bernstein Chief Revenue Officer, Fynso
Apr 2026Great few days in Vail at FRONTSTEPS Forward. 🏔️ Really valued the conversations with leaders across the HOA and community association space focused on strengthening financial controls, improving operational efficiency, reducing workflow friction and building real resilience into how their organizations manage funds. Clear theme across the week: better outcomes come from tighter processes, stronger controls and partners that show up operationally, not just on paper. Thanks to everyone who engaged during and after the session. If we didn’t connect, the teams at SmartStreet and Banc of California would welcome the conversation. Joel Starks, CMCA

Banc of California is proud to support affordable housing through our FHLB AHP investment in this project, reaffirming the Bank's commitment to making a positive impact for residents and neighborhoods across the region. Here’s to many more achievements together!
Apr 2026As a founder or operator, waiting too long to think about debt can be expensive. Capital strategy matters just as much as capital access. The earlier you explore debt, the more flexibility you have to protect ownership, manage working capital, and scale with intention. Watch Banc of California ’s panel discussion with Carlos Ramos from Expo West. One of the most valuable conversations to come out of the event. 🏎️💨 #ExpoWest #MiddleMarketBanking #CPG #GrowthCapital #ConsumerBrands
