If the future was predictable, there would be no risk and if change was linear, there’d be no need for experts. There’d be no need for the insurance industry. But the truth is, the world we live in is unpredictable. It’s volatile, uncertain, and subject to change. At Brit, we believe that the uncertainty of the future should never stand in the way of progress. That’s why we exist. To help peop

Ever had a great idea? And this time it will work! Everyone agreed, leaders bought into it, workshops were run, changes made, and everyone high-fived. But slowly, over the months, nothing really changed not in the way it should have. Your change has not been blocked, ignored, or disagreed with, but it has been absorbed. Well, now there is a name for it. Organisational Gravity. Like physical gravity, it is weak, all-pervading, inescapable, and with a huge range. It will bend and absorb your ideas into something the system can recognise and control. I've been working in tech for over 30 years. This is what occurred to me when I took time to reflect on my career. I've been writing around the topic. Now read all about Organisational Gravity: what it is (hint: not a framework), the forces acting to create it, and what, if anything, you can do. The next phase of wind is increasingly about lifecycle management, not just new build. Glad to share some thoughts on how end-of-life considerations are reshaping risk and opportunity across the sector. #WindPower #Renewables #EnergyTransition #Sustainability #Infrastructure #Insurance #RiskManagement

AI hype and Agile hype, are not the same! Agile could quietly fade when the terminology became unfashionable, or its words were absorbed by the system for its own ends. AI is unlikely to work that way. The hype is no longer just hype. It has become load-bearing. Data-centres are being built. Chips are being fabricated. National strategies are being rewritten. Entire economies are reorganising around the assumption that AI will be as transformative as its advocates claim...... Read my new post on Substack....link in comments.

The system It doesn’t reject AI, it welcomes it because, more than any previous tool, it promises to give the system exactly what it has always wanted. Compliance without negotiation. Output without friction. Execution without the inconvenient human pause that occasionally produced something the system didn’t expect.

A really interesting day at Santander’s Credit Insurance Day, hosted at their impressive campus in Boadilla del Monte. There were plenty of useful discussions throughout the day, with one highlight being the Deal or No Deal session with my colleague Mark Giles. Thanks to the Santander team for the invitation — always good to step away from the day‑to‑day and spend time with their team. #SwissRe #corporatesolutions #Credit #Politicalrisk #BancoSantander #MarkGiles #ShellyKorin #RiccardoBruni

Just call me Dame ITIL. I’m incredibly proud to share that I’ve achieved the ITIL Master designation. For years, service management has been my “bread & butter” navigating complexity, bridging gaps between teams, and constantly learning (often the hard way). There were moments I questioned whether I was spreading myself too thin… across support, delivery, operations, governance, product… the list goes on. This milestone feels like proof that being a “jack of all trades” in the ITSM industry isn’t a weakness, perhaps being a generalist is an attribute that lead to me becoming the lead author for the ITIL (Version 5) Service publication; allowing me to bring my blended real world experience and a fresh perspective to the new ITIL. As a side note, I do not recommend sitting 5 exams in 1 day. I could barely remember my own name at the end of it. #ITIL #ServiceManagement #PeopleCert #ITILmaster
