Two major water infrastructure projects have earned 2026 Project of the Year Awards from the Arizona Water Association. The City of Phoenix’s 24th St. Water Treatment Plant Rehabilitation Project was recognized for restoring the facility to its full rated capacity of 140 MGD through targeted upgrades that improved reliability and drought resilience without expanding its footprint. The City of Peoria’s Beardsley Road Water Reclamation Facility Expansion Project was recognized for increasing treatment capacity by 50%, advancing beneficial reuse, and introducing Arizona’s first installation of InDENSE™ biomass densification technology. RBITT 2026 is well underway in lovely Kansas City! Great sessions on innovative solids and liquid treatment processes. Especially enjoyed the bug resuscitation medical drama presented by Ornella Sosa Hernandez and Kevin Wegener of Clean Water Services . Ongoing count of Carollo Engineers ’ Anne Conklin mentions in completely separate solids and liquid sessions: 3! We miss you Anne! (She’s hard at work back in Seattle.)

I was honored to attend and present at the 2026 Water Environment Association of Ontario (WEAO) Technical Symposium in Niagara Falls last week. I learned a lot about how stormwater managers in Ontario and other Canadian provinces are capturing rain with blue roof programs and using innovative large scale LID approaches in parks and streets! Also got to appreciate the growth of Carollo Engineers 's Canadian offices - great to meet so many brilliant colleagues face to face. #WEAO2026 #CarolloEngineers #WaterInfrastructure #Stormwater

Proud to support NMB Water and it’s director Hamid Reza Nikvan (Certified Nonprofit Executive Director) as they take a proactive, leading role in tackling PFAS. If you’re attending the Florida Water Resources Conference 2026, this is a session you won’t want to miss. With some of the highest PFOS levels in the Biscayne Aquifer, the City is moving early and decisively to meet the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency deadline while maintaining water quality and system reliability. Proud to be part of the team behind this effort— Arturo Burbano, Ph.D, PE from Carollo Engineers will be sharing how this roadmap is coming together. 📍 April 28, 4:00 PM | Track D19 📍 FWRC 2026 If you’re going to be there, come by and say hello.

Construction of Nevada's first water purification and reuse facility is anticipated to break ground this summer. The Advanced Purified Water Facility, a $200 million project led by Truckee Meadows Water Authority and the City of Reno through OneWater Nevada, represents a major step toward a more resilient water future for the region, creating a drought-resistant water supply while improving water quality and reducing discharge to Swan Lake. Carollo Engineers, supported by DOWL, has been selected to provide construction management services for this landmark regional investment.
