Golf kinda lost me for about 15 years. My first job was as a caddie and I grew up playing my local course several times a week each summer. But at a certain point, the game just felt too stuffy, too exclusive. Too much of an uncomfortable uniform you had to wear just to be let onto the course. What brought me back wasn't a course or a player. It was apparel. Specifically Eastside Golf . They were making things I actually wanted to wear, that just happened to be designed around golf. I wanted the clothes first. The sport came second. That's so hard to manufacture. Most brands that try end up with a campaign, but Eastside Golf built something that actually meant something to people. What's even more interesting is what they've had to figure out on the backend: how do you scale a brand like that across channels without flattening what makes it special? DTC, retail, marketplace, all of it, while keeping the customer experience consistent with the identity you've built. That's the operational question most people don't ask about brands they admire. I'm really excited to sit down with Eastside Golf President & COO Chris Nakatani and Cart.com Chief Delivery Officer Chris Mehrabi to get into exactly that. We'll be talking growth, channel strategy, and how they've managed to expand without losing the plot. May 2026Susanna Tuan told me I should fly to Columbus for Loop ’s VIP Connect Partner Summit. I wavered, dragged my feet, hoped for a client conflict, and then weighed the pros and cons, which looked something like this… Pros…I like Loop and think there are a bunch of opportunities to grow our partnership, leaving the house and human interaction is probably healthy, pretty interesting subset of attendees, I get to focus on partnerships a bit Cons…tons going on (as always), socializing and networking, pants with buttons 2 days in a row, falling behind on client stuff, leaving the house, family and dogs for a couple days Well, I went and it was a great. The Loop team was engaging, authentic, and curious. They talked about focus, where they are headed (hint, it's pretty impressive), and how we can collectively better help our clients and end-consumers. They asked-for and appreciated feedback, created an agenda that encouraged networking and interaction (I ignored Cart.com 's competitors), and I left with ideas, connections, and new opportunities. Thanks, Susanna Tuan , Hannah Bravo , and Marco De Paulis for the invite and the great event. Appreciate you all. And, I took no pictures, so here's one of JoJo celebrating his 12 birthday today...
Apr 2026Proud to work at a company doing partnerships like this one. ILIA Beauty went from a two-unit storage facility to shelves at Sephora and Ulta, and the Cart.com team was part of that journey! Check out this recap from the webinar we hosted with ILIA last week:
