May 2026𝐈’𝐯𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐳𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐭𝐡 𝐫𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐬 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐠𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐭𝐡. Central Health has been growing rapidly. Just in the last two years, we launched 30 new specialty and diagnostic services. That kind of growth absolutely changes what’s required of the people leading it. In my 20-year career, I’ve seen that in most change efforts, the primary focus is on process redesign, team training, and communication plans. At Central Health, our GUIDE with Love leadership framework emphasizes cultivating a growth mindset. That’s the “G” in GUIDE. Seeing the scale of growth ahead, I’ve taken that to heart. Last year, I began investing in my own development. I hired a leadership coach and completed an intensive leadership coaching program grounded in presence-based work. This year, I enrolled in the advanced version of that program, Living in Presence. And last week, I attended its four-day kick-off retreat. 𝐁𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐭 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐛𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐬. - Without presence, we become reactive and dysregulated as leaders. - Without presence, the relational field between people breaks, making it difficult to establish sustainable trust and safety. - And without trust and safety, it becomes difficult to lead with kindness. It all begins with presence: our ability to show up with positive, unconditional regard for the human beings we are honored to work with. So, yes. I believe that organizational growth will only be as strong as the personal growth behind it. Curious how others are investing in their own growth as leaders. #LeadershipDevelopment #OrganizationalGrowth #ExecutiveLeadership #ChangeManagement #GrowthMindset #LeadingThroughChange
Apr 2026Last week, we had the privilege of hearing directly from residents of Precinct 1 during Central Health ’s second Community Conversation of the year. The kind of rich engagement in the room made one thing extremely clear: our community cares deeply about the future of health care in Travis County. Thank you to Commissioner Jeffrey Travillion, Sr. , for partnering with us to bring community members together for such a thoughtful and meaningful conversation. And a special shoutout to Nicholas Yagoda, MD , and Sharon J. Alvis for joining me to share how our system is working together to build a more connected, patient-centered care continuum. Too often, health care does not feel simple or seamless. It can feel fragmented, confusing, and difficult to navigate — with people too often left to manage disconnected services on their own. At Central Health, we are working to build something better: a coordinated model that connects coverage, primary care, specialty care, hospital services, and recovery support so patients can move through the system with greater ease and support. We also talked about why this work matters not only for patient outcomes, but for our local economy. In Travis County, health disparities carry an estimated $1.1 billion in preventable medical expenses, lost productivity, and premature death. Investing earlier in access, prevention, and coordinated care is both the right thing to do and the fiscally responsible path forward. But most importantly, we listened. The questions and comments that our Precinct 1 neighbors shared brought real depth to the conversation and offered valuable perspectives as we begin shaping Central Health’s FY27 budget priorities. As a public health system, we have a responsibility to ensure our work is informed by the people we serve — and last week’s discussion was a powerful reminder of why that matters. Thank you to everyone who joined us and shared their perspectives. If you missed this one, we hope you’ll join us for our next Community Conversation on May 14 in Precinct 4 and share your input about health care in Travis County. https://lnkd.in/g2n8vdhs
Apr 2026My "why" for dedicating the last 15 years of my career to recruiting Physicians in the nonprofit and public health space is really simple: at my core, I absolutely love sharing the story of organizations like Central Health and CommUnityCare Health Centers . If I do my job right, with authenticity and passion, I have created a connection between an incredible Physician and patients who would otherwise fall through the gaps of our healthcare system. To my fellow Physician and Provider recruiters out there who turn the challenges of this profession into an opportunity to make a difference every day, happy Physician and Provider Recruitment Professionals Week! Apr 2026A few weeks ago, I had an opportunity to shadow one of our team members, Annie Zanders , for a bit at our Central Health medical respite center downtown, and I was completely moved by her story. You can see the heart Annie brings to her work right away — in her smile and the way she makes people feel like someone is truly there to help. When our patients are ready to leave our respite care and take the next step into permanent housing, Annie is already thinking ahead about the little things that will help them feel stable, what might make the transition easier, and how we can help set them up for success and keep them from ending up back on the street. Part of what makes Annie’s work so powerful is that it’s personal. Growing up, Annie’s family faced days without food or power, relying on churches and food banks to get by. Today, she brings that lived experience to the people we serve, helping medically vulnerable patients move from respite care into permanent supportive housing with dignity, compassion, and understanding. Spending time with Annie was a powerful reminder that some of the most important work in health care happens through human connection, trust, and dignity. We are incredibly lucky to have people like Annie on our team — people who bring deep commitment, lived experience, and real purpose to the work every day. Thank you so much, Annie, for everything you do for our community! https://lnkd.in/g5aG_exF
Apr 2026Thank you to Opportunity Austin , Chair Casey Dobson , and CEO Susan Davenport for the chance to speak with your members about Central Health 's work to build a stronger, more connected health care system for Travis County last week. We talked about a simple but important idea: when health care is fragmented, patients suffer longer, costs rise, and the consequences reach far beyond clinics — into our workforce, public systems, and regional economy. The highest costs often stem from delayed care, poor coordination, and a system that asks people to navigate too much on their own. That's why Central Health exists. We're building public health infrastructure that works differently — putting prevention first and connecting care across the full continuum, from coverage and primary care to hospital and recovery support. The goal is simple: help people get the right care at the right time, and stay connected to it. A growing community like ours needs health infrastructure that supports the people who keep Austin running — low-income workers, families, musicians, hospitality workers, and so many others who make this city what it is. Central Health is expanding access to high-quality, coordinated, high-value care because our work is about affordability, productivity, and long-term economic strength. Thank you again, Opportunity Austin. In partnership with your members, we're proud to help build a community that stays healthy, vibrant, and full of opportunity for everyone.
