Thoughts on leadership based on my experience about delivering news to the organization (Part 2): Details to consider sharing news about change that will be coming to the organization: * Explain to the organization how you (leadership) came to the decision. * Explain in clear and unambiguous language why the organizational change is necessary and in the best interests of the company and the entire workforce, and *(This is a hard one) If any employees were let go as a result of the change, as leaders you have a responsibility to calm the fears of the remaining employees. To state the obvious, the employees that remain will probably feel like they are next, or wondering what they have to do to stick around, or may become apathetic and productivity will slide. Leaders must mindful that those employees who separated from employment were friends & colleagues. Restate what the future looks like, can be and will be if we all pull in the same direction. *Change is hard, but when the change is misunderstood, not believed or when employees lack confidence in the messenger, any organizational change can feel impossible. But working the plan, delivering honest and regular updates and having compassion can make the difference in the vibes which can turn into positive action. #ifyouworktheplantheplanwillwork #change #explain #change #leadership
