The last few weeks have been a bit of a whirlwind. From Glasgow to Manchester, Derby, Stoke, Leek, London and Milton Keynes, it’s been 5 weeks on the road doing awesome events and secret squirrel/exciting stuff with my fantastic partners. Plenty of early starts, late finishes, more coffees than I can count… and a few very well-earned drinks along the way. It’s been one of those periods where you’re fully ‘in it’ but it is the best: busy, fast-paced, sometimes exhausting, but also genuinely rewarding. A great reminder that the best part of the job is the people you get to do it with. Thank you to my wonderful Partners and CityFibre colleagues for keeping me on my toes - I have the best job. I know how lucky I am to say that. May 2026Not going to pretend telecoms is having the easiest time right now. The industry has its challenges like any other. 😅 But I still find what I do is genuinely interesting. I work as a Build Assurance Engineer at CityFibre and most of my job is just making sure things are done properly. The fibre going into the ground meets the standard. The work holds up. Someone in that street or that building actually gets what they were promised. 🔧 It is not glamorous but it matters. And working in infrastructure teaches you things about quality, standards and problem solving that carry across into a lot of different directions. The UK full fibre rollout is still one of the bigger engineering efforts happening in this country right now, whatever you think of the industry overall. Gigabit coverage has gone from around 6% in 2019 to over 60% today. A lot of people quietly made that happen. 📡 I am building my experience here and thinking about where it takes me next. Always open to connecting with people working in telecoms, digital infrastructure or engineering more broadly. 🙌 If that is you feel free to reach out. #CityFibre #BuildAssurance #Telecoms #FTTP #DigitalInfrastructure #GigabitBritain #UKTech #NetworkEngineering #GlobalTalent
