LinkedInArtificial Intelligence

For 20 years management was told: hire the expert, they'll figure it out. AI broke that model. Most teams haven't noticed yet. The old deal between management and senior people was simple. Hire 5-10 of them. Pay well. Trust them to know their domain, build their own process, define their own quality bar, hand off cleanly to the next role. Management never wrote SOPs — the experts ARE the SOP. Then AI showed up to do the work. AI doesn't have 20 years of pattern-matching from past jobs. It needs a written contract for the role. Companies that never wrote one can't apply AI past toy demos. No source the model can read. No rubric the model can be measured against. No handoff the model can sit inside. Fix isn't more prompt engineering. Operational clarity is. Sit with each role. Write V1 — one page, ugly is fine. Cover 5 fields: 1. INPUTS — what comes in, from where 2. OUTPUTS — what goes out, in what format 3. WHAT GOOD LOOKS LIKE — the bar to hit 4. WHAT GETS REJECTED — the auto-fail rules 5. WHERE IT GOES NEXT — the next role downstream Once doc exists, AI starts producing predictable results inside a week. AI didn't expose tech gap. Exposed management gap that was always there.
