The Agentic Age belongs to the Operators. I have been reflecting on the new Harvard Business Review (HBR) piece, "Redesigning Your Marketing Organization for the Agentic Age." It is a powerful provocation. Marketing is increasingly a bottleneck because while product teams ship continuously, marketing remains stuck in sequential, coordination-heavy cycles. But here is the Operator’s Gap the piece glosses over. HBR argues that leaders should shift from "doing" to "directing". Having spent my career building growth engines, from the early days at Connors to leading growth at CookUnity, I have learned that in an automated world, you cannot direct what you do not fundamentally understand. For years, I felt like the "odd man out," fighting against systems and focusing on the "field" (the plumbing) while others played the "game" (the high-level strategy). But today, the field is the game. The "How" is the only strategy that survives: Architecture over Intent: HBR talks about the "Brand Code," a machine-readable foundation. At CookUnity, our AI Creative Flywheel was more than a strategy. It was an operational feat of wiring creative performance data into our creative production to ensure our field was built for speed and quality. Quantifiable Stakes: This is not just about efficiency. It is about unit economics. Successful agentic models are seeing adaptation speeds 98X faster and unit costs dropping by 80%. The Orchestration Layer: You do not manage an agentic system through status meetings. You manage it through the logic of your orchestration layer by managing dependencies and routing outputs in real-time. You see this at scale with HubSpot’s Breeze agents and Netflix’s thumbnail orchestration. These companies did not just set a vision. They built a machine. My takeaway: HBR provides the framework, but as the new generation of marketing leaders, your job is the operational engineering. Strategy without the technical wherewithal to wire the system is just "peanut butter." It looks smooth on the surface, but it provides no structural integrity and isn't defensible. In the Agentic Age, leaders who define the future are those who can see the machine and know how to build it. Apr 2026I'm hiring a Product Manager to work with me at CookUnity B2B! This team builds at the intersection of software, hardware, GenAI, data, and health. A pretty unique space to work in! You're a perfect fit if you have 4+ years of PM experience, a startup mindset, and genuine and proactive curiosity about AI. You're data-driven, fluent in English, and comfortable in rooms with top-tier clients (Spotify, PayPal, etc) and top-tier co-workers. You thrive owning things end to end: discovery, delivery, team, roadmap, outcomes. Most importantly: you believe food is medicine. Not as a concept, as something you actually live by. Reach out to me or to Ines Magadan (she-ella) if this sounds like you or someone you know! Also, feel free to go ahead and fill the position yourself: https://lnkd.in/ddi4kCU2

Apr 2026Ale Comisario is joining CookUnity as our first-ever Chief Technology Officer. It was clear from the beginning that to build the fullest vision of the CookUnity food platform we needed to bring in exceptional talent across culinary, operations, and technology. Our team already built the most advanced ecosystem for high quality prepared food, crafting and delivering 60M+ meals a year and growing quickly. But what comes next requires the strongest tech leadership possible. We are building the most personalized food service in the world with integrated health features for the eater, a culinaryOS for chefs and very complex hardware and software behind the scenes for our kitchens.
