I recently joined Jay Kumar on EHS on Tap to talk about AI in EHS. One thing we spent a lot of time on is that AI is already making its way into EHS work, whether organizations have a formal plan for it or not. That creates a real challenge. People want to use these tools. They want help moving faster, sorting through information, and making sense of what is happening. But in EHS, trust, context, and guardrails are critical. So for me, the starting point is pretty simple: find the places where teams are already feeling friction, give them tools they can actually use, and build systems that improve decisions without adding unnecessary complexity. AI should help EHS teams work with more confidence, not give them more complexity to sort through. We also talked about what we learned from 2,000 EHS leaders in Cority’s new State of EHS+ Technology Report. Link in the comments.

May 2026Some might say EHS+ leaders have been slow to adopt AI. I’d say that EHS professionals understand their work better than the AI hype cycle does. In @Cority’s first State of EHS+ Technology report, we surveyed over 2,000 global EHS+ leaders. Only 15% said they trust fully autonomous AI to make and act on decisions, even in well-defined scenarios. EHS+ work is high-stakes, complex, and consequential in ways that most AI benchmarks don't account for: decisions that affect our co-worker's well being, regulatory complexity, and unique operating environments to name a few. The real value is AI that makes experts faster and sharper, not AI that tries to replace their judgment. Full findings are linked in the comments. Worth a read if you’re thinking through your AI strategy right now.
Apr 2026Something I find myself coming back to a lot in conversations with WHS leaders: the organisations that are genuinely audit-ready aren't the ones that prepare the hardest before an audit. They're the ones that barely have to prepare at all. Getting there requires a genuine shift from safety as a compliance function to safety as an integrated part of how the business operates. Accountability for safety is shared across leadership, data flows across functions rather than sitting in a silo, and governance is real rather than just documented. The challenge I see most often is that this kind of integration gets deprioritised during periods of growth or change. New teams, new systems, new pressures, and suddenly the consistency that made everything work starts to fray at the edges. That's exactly when the gaps become visible. And often, it's exactly when regulators start paying attention too. If this resonates, I'd love to connect and share how we're seeing WHS leaders build the most resilient programs. Cority
