If You Haven’t Walked It, You Haven’t Designed It We were once handed a 44 km, 66 kV overhead powerline route that had been designed entirely on Google Earth. No site visit. No ground truthing. Just a desktop line drawn through “empty” bushland. When my team walked the route, the reality was obvious. The proposed route cut straight through multiple farms, including buildings, fences and water reservoirs. It was completely unbuildable. We had to redesign major sections to avoid private property and physical obstacles that were never visible from satellite imagery. This is the cost of skipping fundamentals. Engineering is a field reality, not a desktop exercise. If you haven’t walked it, you haven’t designed it. It’s surprising how often teams skip the basics and then wonder why projects derail. Technology is an aid, not a substitute for professional judgement. What’s the most avoidable “desktop vs reality” issue you’ve seen in your career? #EngineeringLeadership #ProjectExecution #ConstructionReality #PowerInfrastructure #OperationalReadiness #RiskManagement #FieldVerification #LeadershipInEngineering #MiningProjects
May 2026As I reflect on my career journey for the past decade.I am excited by the lessons, the failures ,wins and most importantly growth points. Every journey has a starting point. Mine began at Key Wealth as a Portfolio Executive. This role introduced me to the foundations of client relationships, Personal financial management , and strategic thinking. I learned that behind every portfolio is a person, a family, a dream that needs to be guided with integrity, trust, and a fudiciary obligation to make informed decisions. As a young professional entering the financial services space, I was exposed to do: • Portfolio and client relationship management • Financial analysis and reporting • Understanding client needs and long-term value creation • Professional communication and stakeholder engagement • The importance of integrity and accountability in business Looking back, this experience shaped many of the skills that continue to guide my career today. Being Person centered started here.It translated to analytical thinking and leadership to creating sustainable impact through people-centered solutions. What seemed like “just a first job” became the beginning of a much bigger journey in leadership, innovation, strategy, and purpose-driven work. #ADecadeOfExcellence #CareerJourney #Leadership #PersonalFinance #Impact
