LinkedInArtificial Intelligence

Your employees don't need to learn AI. They need to unlearn who they think they are. A few weeks ago, I was toying with a radical idea: the best AI enablement program is just giving people access to Claude Code and letting them build their own applications. Last week, I taught a coworker how to use Claude Code, and I learned the barrier isn't technical — it's emotional. Most people experience AI as a chatbot, not as a system that goes and solves real, complex problems on their behalf. Until you see that, you don't really get it. And the sooner your employees hit that "aha" moment, the more motivated they are to weave AI into their daily work. But here's what I didn't appreciate until I sat next to someone learning it: The terminal window is intimidating. The blinking cursor is intimidating. The identity of "I've never written a line of code" is intimidating. AI has opened the door for anyone to become a builder, but people still carry old stories about who they are and what they can do. Teaching Claude Code was maybe 30% technical. The other 70% was helping him believe he belonged in that terminal window. If you're in HR and want a quick tour of how to use Claude Code, my inbox is open.
