Being an integration engineer at a client site: Part 1 "Challenges" Working as an integration engineer at a client site is a different game. It’s not just about technical skills… it’s about handling pressure, expectations and real production risks 👇 1. High client expectations: as a solution provider the client expects near perfect execution and sometimes the level of control is very high I’ve even been asked to share my screen on a big TV… just to ensure I wasn’t using chatgpt or google help. 👉 So Trust is not given we have to earn it. 2. Direct deployment in production, in many cases deployments are done directly in production environement like messaging solution in my case so no room for error and you got immediate impact if something goes wrong 👉 You’re not just deploying you’re responsible for live production impact even when the root cause isn’t yours (sometimes :(). 3. Outdated or incomplete documentation and this point is very often: Documentation is not up to date or architecture is not fully clear and sometimes old or wrong @IP... 👉 If you rely only on documents you take risks try to confirm the architectures and ip@ with some cmd (tracerout, dig..). 4. Operating without internet access In certain environments especially datacenters you may have no internet access at all 👉 Your preparation becomes your only safety net Key takeaway Being on site means dealing with technical complexity + human expectations at the same time. For those who worked on client sites , what was your biggest challenge?
