It’s been a while between soil science lectures… so it was a timely upskill to complete SoilCQuest 's “Soil and the Carbon Economy” course 🌱 In wool, we can spend a lot of time talking technical fibre and sheep while knowing it all goes deeper 🐑 Soil health, pasture performance, and long-term land stewardship are part of the same system. The course was a great way to step outside the day-to-day of wool brokering and reconnect with that bigger picture (and I’m already looking at our home paddock pasture renovations through a different lens). What I valued most: 📚 Clear, digestible modules that made complex topics easy to revisit (with summary sheets!) 🌱 Practical tools to test and real-world examples (not just theory) in one place 🎧 A flexible format with audio perfect for the Melbourne traffic crawl, or reading to hone the detail It reinforced something I come back to often: better understanding leads to better decisions, whether that’s on-farm, in fibre selection, or how we and our consumers/customers think about sustainability more broadly. Thanks to the Elders team - Thomas Elder Sustainable Agriculture & Joe Siebert - for reaching out with this opportunity to build knowledge in this area.
