𝗣𝗖𝗢𝗦 𝗶𝘀 𝗡𝗼𝘄 𝗣𝗠𝗢𝗦 Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) has long been one of the most common hormonal conditions in women, affecting over 170 million people worldwide. But despite how widely used the term became, experts now say it was misleading in how it described the disease. A new name has now been introduced: Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome (PMOS). This update, published in The Lancet and supported by international medical organizations and U.S. academic leaders (including experts from CU Anschutz), is being described as a major correction in how the condition is understood. 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗺𝗶𝘀𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴: The term “polycystic ovary syndrome” implied that the condition: 🔹 was mainly an ovarian problem 🔹 was defined by ovarian cysts But modern evidence shows this is not accurate. In reality: 🔹 many patients have no ovarian cysts at all 🔹 some are told their ultrasound is normal despite clear symptoms 🔹 what is often seen on scans are immature follicles, not true cysts Over time, this misunderstanding narrowed medical focus to the ovaries, leading to: 🔹 delayed diagnosis 🔹 overemphasis on reproductive issues 🔹 under-recognition of broader health effects 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗣𝗠𝗢𝗦 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘀: The new name shifts focus to the full disease picture. PMOS is now understood as a multisystem disorder, involving: 🔹Hormonal imbalance (polyendocrine dysfunction) 🔹Metabolic dysfunction (especially insulin resistance and weight changes) 🔹Reproductive effects (irregular ovulation and infertility) 🔹Skin manifestations (acne, hirsutism) 🔹Psychological effects (anxiety, depression) 🔹 Long-term cardiometabolic risks 𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝗽𝘂𝘀𝗵𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲: The change is the result of more than a decade of international collaboration involving clinicians, researchers, and patients. Experts, including endocrinology leaders such as those at CU Anschutz and pediatric endocrinologist Melanie Cree, highlighted that: 🔹the old term caused misunderstanding and stigma 🔹it contributed to missed or delayed diagnoses 🔹it particularly affected how fertility concerns were framed Large global consultations, surveys, and workshops involving tens of thousands of responses repeatedly showed the same issue: the name did not reflect patient reality.
May 2026This is not just a complaint—it’s a serious concern about unethical practices followed by a large platform like CARS24. After my car inspection, I was repeatedly pushed to pay a non-refundable auction fee with the assurance of getting buyer interest. I received zero leads. Soon after, their sales team convinced me to pay an additional ₹1416 listing fee, promising at least 3 genuine leads within 15 days—or a full refund. I trusted that commitment. Result? Zero leads. Zero accountability. Zero refund. I raised a refund request on 18th March 2026. It has now been over a month, and despite multiple calls, I keep hearing the same scripted response: “You will get it tomorrow.” That “tomorrow” has clearly not arrived. Let’s be very clear—this is not about ₹1400. This is about a pattern that raises serious red flags. If even *5000 customers* are made to pay around ₹1400 every month under similar assurances, that’s **₹70,00,000 (70 lakh)** collected monthly. I am not making accusations beyond my experience—but this pattern, if repeated at scale, is deeply concerning and demands scrutiny. Consumers are not just numbers in a revenue model. **Misleading commitments, delayed refunds, and aggressive upselling tactics** cannot be normalized under the guise of business. I urge Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA), Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, and Department of Consumer Affairs to take note of such experiences and examine whether these practices align with consumer protection norms. I expect a clear resolution and immediate refund, and more importantly, transparency for every customer dealing with CARS24. Because this isn’t just about one customer—it’s about trust being systematically eroded. #ConsumerRights #Accountability #EthicsInBusiness #CustomerExperience #Cars24 #India JagoGrahak India Department ConsumerAffairs Cars24 Cars24 Care Ministry Of Consumer Affairs, Food And Public Distribution Department of Consumer Affairs Consumer Protection Act Ministry of Corporate Affairs Ministry of Law and Justice
