Can Flexo master the Sustainable Packaging Transformation? To address the growing uncertainty at brands and converters how to switch to PPWR-compliant recyclable substrates and ink systems, we organized the Next‑Generation Sustainable Flexo Symposium with Esko , Follmann GmbH & Co. KG , Asahi Photoproducts , POLIFILM , PETROPLAST GmbH , tesa , Pamarco , OCS Optical Control Systems GmbH including a live print at Allstein GmbH . We deliberately pushed the “extreme ends” of sustainability by printing with o Esko QUARTZ screening and imaging o Follmann water‑based inks (<1% VOC) o Asahi water‑washable Flexo plates o Four 100% PPWR‑compliant substrates: OPP coex (20 µm) as reference, MDO (25 µm), transparent PE with 90% PCR (50 µm), LWC paper (50 g). All substrates were printed one after the other on an Allstein wide-web CI press, without any changes to plates, screening, ink or anilox. This sequential run clearly demonstrated the robustness and stability of the solution. Most impressively: We achieved 150 lpi high‑end quality on 90% PCR-PE with gel‑particle‑related defects nearly invisible in print.
