I’m thrilled to share that I’ve joined Axis Integrated Mental Health as Chief Medical Officer! This transition has been incredibly meaningful for me. I’ve spent a lot of time reflecting on the kind of work that fills me with purpose, the kind of teams that bring out my best, and the kind of care I want to help shape in the world. That reflection has led me here. I want to begin with gratitude. So many of you, colleagues, mentors, friends have walked alongside me through different chapters, offered honest guidance, and helped me grow into the clinician and leader I am today. I’m incredibly thankful for that. To the team at Axis, Christopher Perez and Liesl Leary-Perez , thank you for trusting me with this role and for welcoming me into something you’ve built with so much heart. I’m excited for what we will create together. Throughout my career, I’ve carried the stories of people - patients, friends, family and colleagues- who struggled to find the right care at the right time. I’ve seen how fragmented systems can leave people feeling unseen and unsupported. Those experiences have shaped my commitment to building models of care that feel human, accessible, and grounded in compassion. What drew me to Axis is a shared belief that kindness and collaboration are just as essential as clinical and operational excellence in building something that truly matters- a place for thoughtful care delivery, a supportive culture, and an environment where both patients and clinicians can thrive. I’m excited to help advance this vision, step by step, together. It was great to have Sam Preston address our clinical leaders from across the organization. There are few better examples of compassionate and purposeful leadership than Sam’s career so far!
