Another papercut. Anthropic shipped Claude Managed Agents today. Sandboxed execution, long-running sessions, scoped permissions, multi-agent coordination, full tracing in the console. Eight cents per session-hour plus tokens. That list is the bill of materials a typical enterprise AI program has been quoting six-month build times for. The reference architecture slide. The agent platform workstream. The thing the platform team was going to own by Q3. Rented out by the hour. Notion shipped it inside Custom Agents. Asana built AI Teammates on top of it. Rakuten is deploying a new specialist agent across a different business function every week. Sentry wired their debugging agent to a Claude agent that writes the patch and opens the PR, so a developer goes from a flagged bug to a reviewable fix in one motion. Weeks instead of months. None of them waited for a steering committee. This is the papercut pattern up close. Managed Agents on its own collapses no roadmap. It lands on top of Skills, on top of Claude Code, on top of MCP, Computer Use, Cowork, the Office integrations. Every week the harness thickens for the teams already building. The gap to the teams still scoping widens by another notch they cannot perceive. The org that started building on managed infrastructure in March is on its fourth iteration by the time the org running a vendor evaluation finishes the security questionnaire. Your bespoke agent harness was a moat for nine months. Now it is a maintenance bill. The work that justified the headcount is the work Anthropic just turned into a line item on a usage invoice. Every other frontier lab is shipping the same primitives this quarter, so this is not a one-vendor story. I belive the teams that win understand that EX/UX, domain depth, data access, trust with the user is moat. Everything beneath that is rented infrastructure, and the rent is getting cheaper. The teams that lose are still treating "build versus buy on agent infra" as a serious internal debate in April 2026. Another papercut. Another week. The bleed compounds whether you can feel it yet or not.
