DuckDB Quack was announced yesterday and the hype is immense. Hannes Mühleisen joined me just after the announcement to go deep on all the details. DuckDB + DuckLake + Quack = a super simple, high performance data stack. How do they keep innovating like this?! Watch and see what all the fuss is about. Thank you to MotherDuck for sponsoring my trip to AI council and making this interview possible.

LinkedInAgentic AI System

Bauplan on running agents on production data infrastructure. People lobotomize agents to get them into production - make them stupid so they can't fuck things up. Good systems accommodate untrustworthy actors but the data stack isn't. People in software figured this out with git, etc, but in data we're way behind. Bauplan is git, but for data. How? Store commits for iceberg lake states. Branching and time travel. Merging. This uncorks real agentic workflows because the trust required goes down; agents can experiment without breaking things because they treat data objects like software. A new branch is created by an agent on Bauplan every four seconds. Big! This is possible because everything is a metadata operation, not a data operation. It's catalog pointers. Ultimately the effect is to let agents try, fail and try again without destroying anything. No more dumb agents. Jacopo Tagliabue is onto something here. And a good presenter. The jokes landed which is the real measure of any presentation.

it's worth choosing Good Data over Power BI, for example.
