If AI is changing how work gets done, business schools must rethink how leaders are prepared. Reflecting on AACSB annual international conference last week, where AACSB celebrated 110 years, that idea came through clearly in my conversations with deans and faculty from around the world. Business schools have a critical role to play in preparing students for a fundamentally different model of work. As Lee Newman noted, this is an era of leaders orchestrating work, rather than managing it. AI readiness is as much about leadership as it is about technology, and that shift changes what we need to teach, and how we teach it. In our Business Influencer Council discussions, three priorities stood out: • Rethinking MBA models and learning structures to stay agile and relevant • Deepening industry partnerships, especially with local employers • Assessing curriculum changes to ensure development of critical reasoning and judgment in conjunction with AI Encouragingly, I saw strong examples of innovative models at AACSB, from newer schools like International Business School Suzhou (IBSS) , as well as as how existing models like University of Cincinnati Carl H. Lindner College of Business coop program can point toward new approaches for the future. The AI era is a time of transformation, but also a time that plays to the unique position of business schools to shape leadership transformation, as they operate in the intersection of education and enterprise. We can look both to the past and to the future to innovate and respond to the need for change.
