Will AI replace people, or could it ultimately create greater demand for human skills? In his latest article, originally published by Computer Weekly, Jason Pyle, Managing Director of Harvey Nash USA & Canada, explores the emerging "AI boomerang" as organizations reconsider workforce reductions made in anticipation of AI. Our Digital Leadership Report shows that organizations leading large-scale AI implementation are 24% more likely to be increasing their technology headcount than their peers. But realizing AI's potential requires more than technology. It requires investment in the people using it. From structured training to dedicated time for experimentation, upskilling will be critical to ensuring AI enhances human capability and delivers meaningful business value. Aug 2026One of my favorite takeaways from our latest CIO Voices article: Successful AI initiatives aren't just about the technology. They're about building the right foundation. The discussion brings together insights from Tad Rhodes, Founder of TownVue, Sanjay Bhutiani, Founder of Dreaming Tree AI, and our own Craig Leland, Market Director at Harvey Nash USA. Craig shares why organizations should define the outcomes they're trying to achieve before focusing on roles or responsibilities—a perspective that really stood out to me. If you're thinking about AI, data, or technology strategy, it's a great read. Check it out here: https://lnkd.in/eTAFSYHa #HarveyNash #CIOVoices #AI #MachineLearning #TechLeadership

Jun 2026One of the things I hear most often from technology leaders is that there's no shortage of information, but there is a shortage of time. Between AI, cybersecurity, skills shortages, transformation programmes, and economic pressures, it's becoming harder to know which trends deserve attention. That's why Harvey Nash has launched 'Tech Bytes', a monthly newsletter that focuses on one key issue at a time and provides a clear, data-backed perspective. The first edition is now live and looks at a growing challenge around cybersecurity talent and organizational resilience. Jun 2026💡 The developer who wrote the first lines of Tailscale uses Claude to make his work better. Should we all be taking this approach? At Web Summit 2026 in Vancouver, our Tech Talks host David Savage caught up with Avery Pennarun, CEO of Tailscale and the engineer behind one of the most widely used network security tools in the industry. His take on AI? Straightforward. Practical. And a little hard to argue with. 💬 "My designs come out way better after a night of arguing with Claude than they ever would have been on my own." This isn't a founder selling an AI product. Avery is telling you that leaning into these tools makes him better at his job, not worse. And the data backs this up. 📊 The Harvey Nash Tech Talent & Salary Report 2026 found that AI skills are now the single most in-demand capability across organisations. Yet a significant gap remains between the tools being available and the talent being ready to use them confidently and creatively. The engineers, leaders and builders closing that gap fastest? They're the ones treating AI the way Avery does, not as a replacement for good thinking, but as a sparring partner that sharpens it. 🤝 As we head into the second half of 2026, the question for every tech professional and every hiring organisation isn't whether AI matters. It's whether the people on your team, and the talent you're bringing in, are actually leaning into it. The ones who are? They're already pulling ahead. 🎯 📄 Read the Harvey Nash Tech Talent & Salary Report 2026, link in the comments.
May 2026Looking at the US findings from the 2026 Harvey Nash Tech Talent & Salary Report, there's some real momentum in the market right now. 📈 38% of professionals received a pay rise of 10% or more 📈 24% received a promotion in the last year 📈 26% have been in their role 3-5 years, higher than global averages On top of that, more US tech professionals are reporting reduced workloads compared to other regions, along with stronger support for both physical and mental wellbeing. It's a good reminder that when organizations invest in people, it shows up in retention. May 2026The question keeping tech executives up at night? Am I leading from the front? 🤔 Last week at Web Summit 2026 in Vancouver, David Savage, host of Tech Talks, asked senior technology leaders whether they truly feel ready for the pace of change, and whether their organizations are building the learning culture needed to compete. David's conversation with Eric Wittman, CEO at VSCO, gave the perfect insight. Eric spoke candidly about how meaningful change starts at the top, and why openness and willingness to embrace new technology isn't optional for leaders anymore. It's the job. 💡 The data backs this up. The Harvey Nash Tech Talent & Salary Report found that 58% of tech professionals have access to continual learning opportunities, and senior leaders have access to more learning methods than any other group. But access and action aren't the same thing. The real question is: are they feeling the pressure to use it? 🎯 🎬 I think this one is worth five minutes of your time. Take a watch below and let us know, does this resonate with what you're seeing in your own organization?
