Yesterday I had the opportunity to attend the #PMINationalConference2026 organised by Ireland Chapter of PMI . 🎯 Truth is, I had very high expectations given the current landscape we’re in, where AI is dominating every headline and the Project Manager role is evolving at lightning speed. It was brilliant to hear insights and real-world cases from top industry professionals who lead large teams and have tackled challenges like this before. If I had to wrap up some key takeaways, they’d definitely be: 🎯 Fundamentals matter more than ever. We’re putting too much focus on which tool is best, which processes we can automate… but let’s not forget that the basics are still what matters most. 🤝 The human factor is irreplaceable. AI will never replace that strategic piece, the decision-making, the closeness with teams. So we need to double down on that. 📈 The Project Manager role isn’t disappearing, it’s evolving, just like it has before and will continue to do. Those who see this as a threat rather than an opportunity will get left behind. 🧭 We’re all navigating the same uncertainty. New tools, agents, skills drop every day… and we’re all equally overwhelmed trying to figure out which one’s the right call. But here’s the thing: what really matters is delivering value. The tool will depend on each case, and there’ll even be situations where you won’t need one at all. Let’s not chase trends for the sake of it. Instead, take a step back, assess, and see where and how AI actually makes sense. My take: we’re heading towards a scenario where, from a project management standpoint, we’ll be able to put more effort and time into setting strategies, spotting opportunities, and being closer to our teams, which honestly makes me see it with optimism and motivation. ✨ What’s clear is that those who don’t want to adapt and acknowledge that this is already our reality won’t have a place in a few years. What about you: do you see it as an opportunity? Or do you reckon it’s not for you?👇 #ProjectManagementInstitute #PMIIreland #PMCommunity #AIAdoption
