For Earth Day, a group from Highgate Hotels in NYC traveled from Manhattan to the shores of Newtown Creek on the Brooklyn/Queens border for a half-day focused on environmental stewardship and education with Newtown Creek Alliance . During our time there, we explored the historical and current environmental challenges facing Newtown Creek, learned about ongoing projects, and discussed efforts to clean up this long-polluted waterway. We then rolled up our sleeves to repot plants for the native plant species nursery.
