🇲🇩 When a country like Moldova appears on a global stage, every word matters. For bigger and powerful countries, the correct name is sort of obvious. For smaller countries, especially those with painful histories, naming is part of visibility, dignity and recognition. That is why having #Moldova in a song title or in the lyrics matters. An interesting fact: Moldova is one of the few countries who participates in the Eurovision Song Contest and has used the name of the country twice - 2009 with 'Hora din Moldova' and 2026 with 'Viva Moldova'! For too long, our country has been called and is still called by names that do not reflect how we define ourselves today: “Moldavia” (which carries russian occupation), “Moldau”, or other forms shaped by older geopolitical, linguistic or imperial habits. Some of these names may still exist in different languages, but they often blur the truth: the country’s name is Moldova (Republica Moldova). And when millions of people hear “Moldova” from a Eurovision Song Contest 2026 , this becomes more than music. It becomes a small act of cultural diplomacy. A correction. A reminder. A beautiful form of justice for a country that deserves to be known by its own name. Songs can do what official speeches often cannot: they travel fast, they stay in people’s minds, and they create emotional recognition. Saying Moldova in a song matters. Thanks @Satoshi / Vlad Sabajuc for making the crowds sing the correct name of Moldova. It tells Europe and the world: we are here, we have a name, we have a voice, and we want to be seen as we are. May 2026I had the pleasure of participating in the Kenya Diaspora in Italy session, where our President informed us about the progress taking place back home, as part of his transformative agenda. As a diaspora leader I was pleased to see such a large turnout.
