Canadian Credit Union Association #DrivenbyPurpose2026 in Ottawa didn’t feel like a conference. It felt like a wake‑up call wrapped in good energy and even better conversations. Credit unions aren’t chasing trends. They’re building financial services that actually work for real people, and you could feel that intention everywhere. The highlight of the conference for me was Manjit Minhas . Her keynote was the kind of inspiration that sneaks up on you. With equal parts grit & clarity, she set the tone for the whole event. As always, the real magic happened off‑stage. The hallway chats. The coffee‑line or lunch line confessions where everyone realizes they’re navigating the same messy middle. The ad‑hoc conversations in passing are always the ones that make these events memorable. It's the best reunion spot too. A few things I am taking away with me from this years' conference : - Purpose isn’t a slogan here ; it’s the operating model. Every conversation came back to member impact. - AI and modernization were everywhere, but framed through a responsible, human‑first lens. - Collaboration is becoming a real competitive advantage for credit unions. The best ideas came from shared challenges, not siloed wins. - Member expectations are rising fast, and “good enough” is no longer good enough. - Community impact is being measured in trust, access, and long‑term resilience and not just through numbers on a slide. And last but not the least, credit unions aren’t just keeping pace with change, they’re shaping it with intention, clarity and a whole lot of heart. And being part of that journey from the Interac Corp. side is something I’m genuinely proud of.
May 2026Just wrapped the CGI CU Tech Forum in Vancouver, and I’m leaving with equal parts inspiration, urgency, and the quiet realization that the roadmap might need… a few more pages. A few standout lessons that stuck with me: - AI isn’t here to steal jobs; it’s here to steal the tasks nobody liked anyway. If that’s disruption, I’ll take it. - Technology only matters when the purpose is clear. The most compelling conversations weren’t about tools—they were about people, trust, and designing experiences that actually make members’ lives easier. - Member expectations are sprinting while most of us are still stretching. The gap isn’t a threat; it’s a nudge to move with more intention. - And yes, the best ideas still happen in the hallway. (The best snacks too, but that’s another post.) From an Interac Corp. perspective, the conversations reinforced something we see every day: modernization only works when it’s built on trust, collaboration, and infrastructure that actually scales with the needs of Canadians. Payments ARE becoming more seamless, more embedded, and more invisible..and that keeps raising the bar for reliability, security, and partnership across the ecosystem. What impressed me most was the honesty in the room; leaders openly sharing wins, misses, and the messy middle. That kind of transparency is rare, and it’s exactly what accelerates real transformation. Leaving Vancouver energized, challenged, and ready to turn all this inspiration into action that moves the needle and strengthens the connective tissue that keeps Canada’s financial system moving.

Apr 2026Buying a couch online shouldn’t feel like a trust exercise but somedays it sure feels that way. If you’ve ever used a peer‑to‑peer marketplace, you know the moment. The double-check. The “is this real?” pause. The quiet hope you’re not about to get burned. That’s why this Interac Corp. x Kijiji Canada partnership is the best news today. By building verified identity right into the marketplace experience, this move raises the bar on trust where it matters most, before money or goods change hands. Less anonymity for bad actors. More confidence for everyday Canadians. #winning From a credit union lens, this is especially interesting. Credit unions have always been trust-first institutions. Deep roots, real relationships, and a strong sense of accountability to members. What’s changing is where that trust shows up. It’s no longer just in-branch or inside online banking. It’s following members into the digital places they already are, like peer‑to‑peer commerce. This is what modern trust infrastructure looks like. Embedded. Invisible. Helpful. And powered by financial institutions people already trust. Fraud prevention doesn’t have to be loud to be effective. Sometimes the smartest solutions are the ones that quietly make life a little safer and a lot easier. Worth the read if you’re thinking about trust, identity, and how credit unions can continue to lead in a digital‑first world: https://lnkd.in/echZujFW
