May 2026Do you have a talent strategy that’s fit for the age of AI? Most companies have detailed plans for deploying the technology across their organization and which data they need. But their talent strategies often lack the same depth when it comes to AI. This often leaves employees feeling alone in dealing with the change. And Accenture 's Talent Reinventor report shows why there's still a long way to go: only one-third of executives surveyed said their company's talent strategy is fully aligned with their technology and AI strategy. In other words, their strategy is: scale AI first, deal with employees next. AI has truly exposed the gap between how fast business and technology are evolving and how slowly talent systems adapt. What struck me most is how slow companies are to change their approach to learning. Learning is no longer an extra activity beside your job - it's part of your role description. Requirements change fast, and building new skills continuously is no longer optional. Yet according to our survey, only one in four organizations embed learning into daily workflows. And when learning does happen, it's rarely tailored to individual needs - 52% of employees say learning is tied to development goals but not personalized. In practice, that means people spend time building capabilities they may never use. A second area where companies need to catch up is matching employee skills to the right opportunities. As people continuously learn and grow, many organizations lose track of who has which capabilities - they lack the visibility into their workforce needed to match the right people to the right projects and roles. AI will also play a growing role here: creating a living, continuously updated inventory of employee skills, capabilities and interests across the enterprise. Yet not all companies are the same. We've identified a group we call Talent Reinventors - organizations that have actively redefined their talent strategy to support AI adoption. If you'd like to know what they get right that others don't, reading the full Talent Reinventor report is a great place to start. Download it here: https://lnkd.in/edSugmTw #futureworkforce
May 2026Never bet against a great American city. This mantra is particularly relevant in San Francisco. Just months ago, many had written off the City by the Bay, with stores closing and companies declaring its best days behind it. However, as the next great tech revolution took off, where did it happen? San Francisco. Three quarters of venture capital investments in AI are concentrated in the Bay Area, with a significant portion directed towards the city itself. While outdoor ads may not be the most accurate measure of economic activity, our business in San Francisco is thriving, and we are not alone. Here are some key data points: - Wages have increased by 44% since 2019. - Crime rates have decreased significantly from pandemic highs. - Foot traffic is well above 2019 levels in many neighborhoods, returning to pre-pandemic levels in commercial districts from Tuesday to Thursday. - Jobs and population in the city are at over 95% of pre-pandemic levels. - Tourism is on track to match 2019 figures this year. Most importantly, 64% of residents believe the city is moving in the right direction, compared to 22% in 2023. While challenges remain—particularly regarding affordability and the need for more retail in Union Square—San Francisco is making a comeback, and it is awesome to witness.
