AI in property claims. Some of it's hype, some of it's real. A few years back, a homeowner with a roof leak waited a week just to get on an adjuster's schedule. Now they upload photos, hop on a video call, and a scope gets started the same day. After a big storm that's the difference between a family waiting three weeks for a tarp or getting one up before the next rain. What's interesting is the tech is pushing compliance and quality up at the same time. Coverage checks, photo standards, jurisdictional rules, all baked into the workflow instead of living in a PDF nobody reads. That used to be a tradeoff. Not anymore. But let's be clear on what AI actually does. It's not replacing adjusters. It's handling the standard losses so the real time goes to the files that need it. Large losses, complex water damage, suspicious fires, anything with an attorney attached. That still takes judgment and boots on the ground. Always will. The skill set is shifting. The adjusters who win from here are the ones who can read data, spot patterns across a book of claims, and know when to double click on a file because something doesn't add up. Let the tools move the simple stuff. Your time belongs where complexity is hiding with the devil in the details. Get good with the tools, trust your instincts on the hard files, and your value goes up, not down. Appreciate the opportunity to share the stage with partners looking to solve ecosystem problems together. Kimberly Burdi-Dumas Zeke S. Smith David James, XCT Administrative Strategies (AdStrat)

Apr 2026As the weather pattern continues to move from a La Nina to an El Niño, there is a significant chance that we see it move all the way into the Super El Niño category. This would dramatically increase the amount of wind shear in the Atlantic and make it extremely tough for hurricanes to form. It will be interesting to see how this continues to unfold, but we have started to see this transition occur as we are not in the neutral condition category with a shift into El Niño conditions expected in the next 1-2 months.
