Two frontier cyber-capable models were announced seven days apart. On April 7, Anthropic previewed Claude Mythos and withheld it from public release because of its vulnerability discovery capability. On April 14, OpenAI unveiled GPT-5.4-Cyber. Set against Anthropic’s earlier disruption of GTG-1002 where Claude Code reportedly handled 80–90% of tactical operations across thirty targets with minimal human direction. This should give leaders pause. What strikes me is that too many organisations will still read these as isolated technology milestones. They are not. They point to something more structural: the economics of offence are changing. Capability is becoming cheaper, faster, and more scalable. What was once the preserve of highly capable actors will not stay there for long. That has real implications for boards and executive teams. ▶️ If an attacker replicated the GTG-1002 playbook against us this quarter, where would we realistically detect it, and how confident are we in that answer? ▶️ Have we explicitly reflected AI accelerated offence in our 2026 risk appetite, scenario planning, and control priorities? ▶️ What is stopping our own defenders from using governed agentic tools across our estate today? I think this is where the real leadership challenge now sits. The threat model has already changed. The harder question is whether our governance, operating model, and decision-making are adapting at anything close to the same speed. Human paced defence against machine speed offence is a loosing arithmetic. #CyberRisk #BoardGovernance #AISecurity #CISO #OperationalResilience
