Lightspeed is leading the $8M Seed financing for Origin Lab with participation from SV Angel , Eniac Ventures , Seven Stars , FPV Ventures , and notable angels incl. Kyle Vogt & Kevin Lin . Last spring, we published Lightspeed's perspectives on the history & opportunity ahead in world models. The two questions we'd highlighted at the time were timeline to commercial viability, and access to enough high quality & structured 3D/4D data. Origin Lab is directly tackling the latter. Origin licenses, captures, enriches, and delivers rights-cleared multimodal training data from video games, 3D environments, and premium media to frontier AI labs. AI is moving from understanding language to understanding the physical world, and that transition requires new kinds of data and new kinds of environments. The companies that aggregate the supply of licensed 3D/4D data and can leverage that to build the infrastructure & simulation environments to train on this data are effectively building the substrate. The Origin Lab team is distinctly positioned to address this opportunity.
