A few weeks ago we kicked off our 2026 Eastern Suburbs FLC events with a wonderfully positive vibe. Gareth Robinson , founder of The Habit of Happy gave up his time to speak to our growing Eastern Suburbs community about the importance of small daily doses of happiness and creating a more positive, productive workplace because of it. He shared some exceptionally useful tools from the workshops he runs, including my personal favourite which recognises that everyone likes to feel important. Remembering that through his simple yet powerful exercise, has stayed with me as a daily practice at work and home over the last few weeks. Thanks to Gareth, our fun, spirited community, Julie Dormand , and The Friday Lunch Club for connecting likeminded humans down the east coast.

Apr 2026Ah, the joys of working internationally... I recently got an email from a US colleague who told me 'We cannot proceed here without getting XXXX involved, so let’s table this opportunity.' I was quite excited, thinking we were going to discuss the project with the client, because here in the UK, 'to table something' means to formally present it for discussion or to add it to an agenda. However, I discoverd today that in the US it means 'to postpone or suspend the discussion of a topic indefinitely'. 😲 Apparently, these opposite meanings stem from different parliamentary traditions where a document was either placed on a table to be seen (UK) or set aside (US). Same verb - very different meanings - and outcomes! Every day's a school day...
