Living abroad is not for the faint-hearted. Even in a globalised, digitalised world, building a life in another country still requires an enormous amount of invisible effort. Learning how systems work. Finding housing. Navigating healthcare, schools, childcare. Understanding communication styles and unspoken rules. Finding friends and building a social life from scratch. And often, doing all of this while trying to perform professionally from day one. In my work, I’ve supported highly educated, experienced professionals who struggle to find work. Partners becoming dependent on one person to handle every interaction in the local language. Leaders navigating new cultural contexts, rethinking how to communicate, lead, and be perceived. People slowly losing confidence, identity, and sometimes hope, not because they lack capability, but because integration stretches across every layer of life at once. At the same time, living abroad can also become one of the biggest stretches of growth. You rebuild yourself. You learn resilience. You learn perspective. You learn how deeply belonging shapes wellbeing. One thing I notice often: When I speak about integration and belonging, people who have never lived abroad sometimes don’t fully understand the depth of what I mean. But people who have lived it, even once, recognise it immediately. And so do locals whose partners, children, or close friends moved countries for love, work, or opportunity. Because once migration touches your life personally, the invisible layers become visible very quickly. If we want international talent not only to arrive, but to stay, we need to understand what it actually takes to build a life, not just a career, in a new country. #InternationalProfessionals #WorkplaceIntegration #BelongingAsASkill #ExpatLife #FutureOfWork #LeadershipDevelopment #EmployeeExperience
May 2026Choosing the right UWB antenna for IEMI, EMC, or sensing applications, is not just about selecting the right operating frequency; in most cases it affects the high-voltage performance, gain, and weight of the system. Vivaldi antennas provide broadband performance and handle lower frequencies with a compact design. The design and characterization process of a lightweight Vivaldi antenna for high-voltage ultra-wideband systems is presented in my last publication. This paper, developed in collaboration with colleagues from Fundación Universitaria Los Libertadores and Universidad El Bosque , also includes an extensive review of research on Vivaldi antennas. Apr 2026Hiring "A-Players" is only 10% of the job. The real work of a People Leader starts after the offer letter is signed. As we head toward the weekend, I’m reflecting on capability density and perfomormance excellence. It is very easy to focus on the headcount, but I’m focused on the heartbeat: ✅Internal Mobility and Career Paths: Are we giving our best people a reason to stay? ✅Skill Gaps: Are we hiring for tomorrow’s problems, or are we being reactive by just filling today's holes? ✅The Human Element: When was the last time we recognised the "quiet winners" who keep the gears turning? The best "retention strategy" is simply being a place where people can do the best work of their lives in an inclusive open culture How are you investing in your team’s growth today? #TalentAcquisition #HRLeadership #CPO #Retention #EmployeeExperience
Apr 2026Over the past year, I stepped away from LinkedIn and took some time to reflect on what I really wanted to do next. After more than 20 years in software sales and business development, I’ve had the privilege of working with incredible people, building relationships and helping businesses grow. During that time, something else became increasingly important to me; how we support our elderly community, particularly those who may be living alone or feeling isolated. That reflection has led me in a new direction. I’m now proud to have launched a Caribbean elderly companionship service, focused on providing more culturally familiar and trusted support to people in their own homes. For me, this isn’t about their clinical care needs, it’s about connection, conversation and helping people feel seen, understood and valued. It’s a very different chapter in my career but one that feels incredibly meaningful. If this resonates, or if you know someone who may benefit, I’d love you to take a look: www.cscompanionship.co.uk I’m also keen to connect with organisations, community groups and professionals who share an interest in improving support for elderly individuals, particularly where culturally aware companionship can make a real difference. Thank you to everyone who has been part of my journey so far and to those joining me on this next chapter.
