May 2026The not so secret inside joke at Maven is that “Black Maternal Health Week” is my favorite week of the entire year, but it’s actually a fact that has held true for a full decade now. This week celebrates ten years of leadership from the Black Mamas Matter Alliance, Inc. (BMMA) and other Black community-based organizations as the foundation for advancing sustainable improvements in Black Maternal Health. As the Director of Health Equity at Maven Clinic , I continue to be incredibly proud of the work we’ve accomplished over the last four years to address health disparities, and more specifically, the challenges that Black women experience in the reproductive health space. I am especially thankful to Charles Johnson and 4Kira4Moms, Inc. for their collaborative partnership and continued friendship with Maven. The interesting thing about addressing disparities, bias, and barriers to care is the number of strategies that can be employed to get it done. A quick recap of Maven’s track record in the space: - Becoming the first digital health company to receive NCQA Health Equity Accreditation, a system wide transformation that holds health care leaders to an accountability system - Building a Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Services Program because delivering culturally appropriate care shouldn’t be an afterthought, rather baked into the operations - Launching a Community Advisory Board because the clinical product must be critiqued by the diversity of the groups it serves - Developing the MPact for Families program because community health must be a bi-directional approach where resources, skills, and knowledge are shared assets - Releasing our Clinical Impact Report, highlighting how the design of a digital health model can improve birth outcomes for Black people, people who speak English as a second language, and members of the LGBQTIA community It’s my belief, that no matter who you are or where you are, it is incredibly important to do this work because, quite simply, it saves lives. It’s also incredibly important that allies, across the space, stand with Black women. If you want to be a part of the movement, please consider giving your support, either professionally or personally, to the above mentioned and following organizations: Perinatal Health Equity Initiative Hummingbird Indigenous Family Services Kimberly Seals Allers ARIAH Foundation Ancient Song

Apr 2026For many people trying to conceive, the advice is simple: keep trying. Month after month, the default advice is patience - even when something is quietly, detectably wrong. A hormonal imbalance, or a condition that has a name and a care pathway, if only someone had looked. The problem isn't effort. It's information. Many people don't fail to conceive because they didn't try hard enough - they fail because they never had the full picture. That’s why Maven Clinic is expanding Fertility & Family Building program, with three new capabilities rolling out this spring: - Earlier diagnostic lab testing, including hormone panels, genetic carrier screening, and foundational fertility panels, delivered directly within Maven so members can review results and connect with a provider immediately - Condition-specific care pathways for PCOS, endometriosis, and oncofertility, combining clinical guidance, nutrition support, and hormone testing to address root causes rather than defaulting to the most aggressive treatment - The first integration of Oura's FDA-listed ovulation prediction insights into a fertility care experience, bringing continuous, real-time cycle data directly into clinical decision-making All of it is powered by Maven Intelligence, connecting lab results, wearable data, and clinical expertise so care teams can personalize at scale. Time lost early becomes dollars spent later, in more aggressive treatment, higher-risk pregnancies, and preventable NICU stays. But the biggest benefit is priceless: finally, patients will have the full picture. https://lnkd.in/eRk3hJ8w
Apr 2026Since I joined Maven Clinic 4.5 years ago, my team has engaged in thousands of conversations with people leaders, consultants, and payer stakeholders that hold a common theme: how to reduce maternity claims while providing best-in-class care. There is a structural shift in maternity care billing which will impact all folks managing #employeebenefits . Learn more about what's at stake and how to navigate these changes below.
