May 2026Four weeks into my role at Sun IP , and I’m even more excited about where we are as a business and where we’re headed. This past week, I spent time with the team in our Philadelphia office and with our technology group in Ocean City, NJ. It was a great opportunity to connect in person, align on priorities, and spend time working through what comes next. We covered a lot in a short window: • Time with the leadership team aligning on direction and priorities • A strong working session with the broader team focused on how we show up in the market • Product and strategy discussions with our engineering and operations teams • And just as important, time together outside the office building relationships and trust What stands out most is the quality of the team and the foundation already in place. There’s a clear opportunity to build something special here by staying close to our customers, continuing to evolve our offerings, and executing with consistency. The IP market is changing, and our clients are looking for partners who can deliver both expertise and a better overall experience. That’s where we’re focused. Also brought home a little Sun IP gear this week, a good reminder of the team and momentum we’re building. Appreciate the time with the team this week, and looking forward to building on the momentum. #IntellectualProperty #Leadership #RevenueGrowth
Apr 2026Before I Approve Anything, I Ask Myself These 5 Questions At senior levels, decisions don’t fail because of lack of effort. They fail because of missed thinking. Over time, I’ve developed a simple internal checklist — one I run through before approving plans, strategies, or key actions. 1️⃣ What problem are we actually solving? Not the surface-level issue. The real one. Misidentified problems lead to perfectly executed… irrelevant work. 2️⃣ Is this scalable, or just workable? Something can “work” today and still fail tomorrow. I look for approaches that can sustain growth — not just deliver quick wins. 3️⃣ Who owns the outcome? If ownership is unclear, execution will be inconsistent. Clarity of responsibility often matters more than clarity of plan. 4️⃣ What could go wrong — and are we ready for it? Optimism builds ideas. Preparedness protects them. Thinking through risks early saves time later. 5️⃣ Are we solving or just staying busy? Activity can look like progress. But real impact comes from solving the right problems — not just doing more. ⚖️ What this changed: Better decisions. Faster alignment. Fewer escalations. More accountable teams. At senior levels, your value is not just in what you do — but in how you think before you act. #AVP #Directors #CEO #COO #HR
Apr 2026The Hidden Cost of Poor Communication in Teams In most teams, when things go wrong, we often look at execution, timelines, or capability. But in many cases, the real issue is simpler: Poor communication. Not always visible. But always expensive. 📊 Where the cost shows up: • Misaligned expectations leading to rework • Delays caused by unclear ownership • Decisions made with incomplete context • Teams working in silos instead of collaboration • Increased friction and reduced trust 🧠 What experience makes clear: Most problems are not due to lack of skill. They are due to lack of clarity. And clarity is a communication outcome. ⚖️ The leadership responsibility: At senior levels, communication is not just about sharing updates. It’s about ensuring: • Everyone understands the why behind the work • Priorities are clearly defined and aligned • Feedback loops are active and constructive • Information flows consistently across teams 📌 A simple shift that makes a difference: Instead of assuming alignment, create it deliberately. Because what is clear to you may not be clear to the team. Strong communication doesn’t just improve efficiency. It reduces friction, builds trust, and enables teams to perform at their best. #HR #Communication #AVP #ProfessionalGrowth #ceo #COO
Apr 2026It’s unfortunate that in many organizations, loyal employees are sometimes let go based on hearsay, while less committed individuals remain. In the long run, companies often pay the price for such decisions—yet it continues to happen. A year ago (April 10, 2025), a highly dedicated individual—responsible for more than 85% of a division’s delivery—was laid off without clear reason or explanation. Thankfully, everyone who was affected has moved on and is doing well. In fact, they are now part of organizations far better than the ones that let them go—some even in Fortune companies. Sometimes, setbacks lead to better opportunities.
