The medical community just dropped a bombshell for women’s health. After a years-long global effort published in The Lancet, PCOS has officially been renamed to PMOS (Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome). This isn't just a minor tweak in a textbook. It is a massive victory against a century of medical misdirection. Here is why this matters to every leader, HR professional, and executive on this platform: 1. The old name was a lie. For decades, focusing on "polycystic ovaries" led people to believe this was simply a reproductive or "fertility-only" issue. Forbes highlights that those "cysts" aren't even true cysts—they are simply pre-ovulatory follicles. Thousands of women without any cysts at all were left misdiagnosed, ignored, or told it was "all in their head." 2. It is a whole-body crisis, not just an ovary problem. By shifting the name to include "Polyendocrine" (hormones) and "Metabolic," medicine is finally catching up to reality. PMOS affects insulin resistance, heart health, energy levels, mental health, and weight management. It impacts how 1 in 8 women worldwide function every single day. 3. The impact on the workplace is massive. Chronic conditions like PMOS don't turn off when a woman logs into work. When a condition that drives severe fatigue, brain fog, and metabolic stress is minimized as "just a period issue," corporate wellness programs fail to provide the right support. Language shapes reality. When we rename a condition to accurately reflect its severity, we change how insurance covers it, how researchers fund it, and how employers accommodate it. Kudos to the global patient advocates and clinicians who fought for over a decade to make this change happen. To my network: Do you think changing a medical name will successfully shift how organizations view and support chronic conditions in workplace wellness? Let’s talk in the comments. 👇 #WomensHealth #Healthcare #Leadership #PMOS #PCOS #HormoneHealth #MetabolicHealth #InsulinResistance #WorkplaceWellness #EmployeeWellbeing #CorporateWellness
May 2026“Bridal glow-up… or medical shortcut?” Weight-loss injections are now becoming part of pre-wedding prep. Let that sink in. Across India, clinics are offering “bride transformation” packages that include medications like Mounjaro—alongside skincare, hair makeovers, and fitness plans. What was once about celebration… is quietly shifting toward appearance-driven timelines. Soon-to-be brides (and even grooms) are being nudged toward rapid results—sometimes prioritizing speed over sustainability. But here’s the real question: Are we preparing for a wedding… or performing for one? Because when weight loss becomes a deadline-driven goal rather than a health journey, the risks go beyond the physical. As healthcare professionals—and even as a society—this trend deserves a pause. Not panic, but perspective. Quick fixes may change how you look for a day. But real health determines how you live for years. #WeightLoss #GLP1 #Mounjaro #Wegovy #Healthcare #PreventiveHealth #SustainableWeightLoss #NutritionMatters #FitnessIndia #WomensHealth #BodyImage #IndianHealthcare #LifestyleMedicine #PublicHealth #Dietitian #HealthAwareness
