May 2026Two weeks ago, I had the opportunity to speak with students during BMO’s Kickstart Your Career workshop. It was a great experience joining fellow panelists Ubongabasi Offiong , Arjun Gandhi , and Nathania K. to share honest insights, practical advice, and real experiences around navigating the early stages of a career. During the session, we talked about what it really means to “get started”, from asking the right questions and building confidence, to learning through hands‑on experience and staying open to different paths. I also shared more about my own journey at BMO so far, including what I’ve learned as an intern and how early exposure to different roles can help clarify long‑term interests and next steps. A big thank you to Emma Connell and Katie Somerville for organizing the session, and everyone who joined and participated in the discussion.
May 2026This month, the FIGC - Federazione Italiana Giuoco Calcio released its damning report on the state of Italian football. Two core issues stand out: a broken commercial model and a failure in talent development and first-team integration. 1. BROKEN COMMERCIAL MODEL • Italian football is generating approximately €730M in annual losses, highlighting a structurally unprofitable system rather than a cyclical downturn. • Clubs are spending roughly €300M annually on agent fees, diverting capital away from infrastructure, academies, and long-term asset building. • Many clubs rely heavily on player trading to balance their books, creating a volatile revenue model that lacks predictability and scalability. 2. LACK OF TALENT DEVELOPMENT • Serie A is currently the OLDEST league in Europe by average age (27), reflecting a short-term focus on experience over long-term player development. • Approximately 68% of minutes are played by foreign players, limiting opportunities for Italian talent to develop and appreciate in value. • Italy ranks 49th globally for minutes given to U21 players, signaling a systemic failure to integrate youth into first-team environments. • Of the top 50 youth academies in world football, only TWO are Italian (Juventus and Atalanta), underscoring the country’s declining influence in elite talent production. As we look ahead, all eyes turn to the FIGC presidential election in June, where new leadership will be tasked with resetting the direction of the game. The opportunity is clear, but so is the scale of the challenge. This is not about incremental change; it requires a fundamental rebuild of how Italian football operates. In today’s game, success is built on two things: developing assets and monetizing the product. And right now, Italy is doing neither. Apr 2026There’s a different energy in the city right now. The buzz. The anticipation. Playoffs have a way of slowing down time and bringing people together. It’s been a minute since Toronto Basketball has had this kind of moment, and you can feel how much it means to the city. Being part of this environment reminds me why live sports are so powerful. It’s not just about the game, it’s shared experiences, it's connection, it's the feeling of being right there when something legendary happens. Now, with the teams coming to Toronto for the first home game of the series, I’m excited to help create those moments for groups and organizations looking to be part of it in a meaningful way. Raptors are bringing the heat. Experience it live. #WeTheNorth #NBAPlayoffs #TorontoSports #Suites

Apr 2026Corporate events get a bad reputation they don't always deserve. Here are some of the most common misconceptions and what's actually true: "It's just a party." The best corporate events are intentional. They're designed to move culture forward, strengthen relationships, and create alignment. The celebration is a byproduct, not the point. "ROI is impossible to measure." It's harder to measure, yes. But engagement scores, post-event surveys, retention data, and pipeline generated from events all tell a clear story if you're asking the right questions. "Big budget = better event." Some of the most impactful events I've seen were done on a shoestring. Clarity of purpose beats production value every time. "Nobody actually likes them." People dislike bad events. Events that waste their time, don't have a clear agenda, or feel disconnected from anything meaningful. Give people a reason to be there and they'll show up. Here's something nobody talks about enough: By the time the event arrives, the team behind it is often burnt out. Months of logistics, approvals, and coordination mean the people who should be connecting with clients are running on empty. The relationship-building moment everyone planned for gets overshadowed by the exhaustion of getting there. The lesson? Reduce the lift wherever you can. Turnkey experiences like suite rentals at BMO Field for Toronto FC and Argos games exist for this reason. When we handle the details, your team walks in ready to have real conversations. That's when client entertainment actually works. The goal was never the event itself. It was always the relationship. Want help reducing time spent on event planning?
