For a long time, macOS onboarding at Moonpig has been a labour of love ... emphasis on the labour. My team was stuck in a cycle of manual provisioning: unboxing hardware, manually enrolling devices, pre-staging user accounts, and babysitting software installations one by one. It was a high-touch, low-value process that kept my team focused on repetitive manual tasks instead of high-impact engineering. We’re changing that. We are officially mid-migration to Iru for our macOS management. The shift isn't just about a new UI; it’s about moving to a #ZeroTouch model powered by Iru Blueprints Instead of a checklist of manual tasks, we now define the "desired state" via Blueprints. Whether it’s a creative in London or an engineer working remotely, Iru uses these Blueprints to dynamically deploy the exact configuration, security profiles, and applications the user needs the moment they first power on. No more manual staging. Just a seamless, out-of-the-box experience. It’s a massive win for my team’s bandwidth and an even bigger win for the employee experience. To the Mac Admins in my network: What’s the one manual task you’re most desperate to automate this year? #itleadership #workplacetechnology #macos #iru #zerotouch #mdm #endpointmanagement #digitaltransformation #itops
May 2026It’s a wrap 🎉 Some reflections after a 2-day AI-Driven Development Lifecycle (AI-DLC) workshop with Moonpig at Amazon HQ at Principal Place ☁️ A few things that stood out to me: 1️⃣ 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗺 𝘀𝗰𝗼𝗽𝗲.📚 AI-DLC works best when the domain is well understood. For brownfield projects with multiple systems and integrations, thorough documentation and clear API contracts upfront make a huge difference. 2️⃣ 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗮 𝗹𝗼𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗱𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. AI-DLC acts as an agent-agnostic harness with rules that keep the agent aligned. The interesting part is how quickly it exposes missing logic, contradictions, and unclear requirements. You’re forced to resolve ambiguity early. 3️⃣ 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗾𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗻 𝗯𝗼𝘁𝗵 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴. 🤝 One of the biggest value unlocks is having the whole team focused on the problem space together from the start. It reduces downstream clarification, rework, and meeting overhead later on. 4️⃣ 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿. 🧩 The more refined your inception phase is, the smoother your construction and iteration phases become. 5️⃣ 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗵𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗱. 🧠 Once your context window gets too large, things degrade quickly. Clearing context around the ~70% mark and relying on generated MD documentation to preserve project state worked well for us. 6️⃣ 𝗔𝘃𝗼𝗶𝗱 𝗮𝗱𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗠𝗖𝗣 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝘁𝗼𝗼 𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆. They can consume context rapidly before the foundations are stable. 7️⃣ 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗿𝗲𝗲 𝘁𝗶𝗲𝗿 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁. 💸 Depending on project complexity, the workflow can become surprisingly token-heavy. 8️⃣ 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻. 🌱 AI-DLC is still evolving as a framework, and real-world feedback is especially valuable right now. My biggest takeaway: AI-DLC amplifies the importance of engineering discipline and effective cross functional colaborations. Clear purpose, strong requirements, and aligned teams matter even more when agents are involved 🚀 I can see myself using this approach for brownfield systems just as much as greenfield projects. A big thank you to the Amazon Web Services (AWS) AI Engineering team for facilitating the workshop and sharing practical tips, challenges, and lessons learned along the way 🙌 Curious whether others here have experimented with AI-DLC workflows yet, especially in existing production systems.
