May 202670% of Power Automate flows with an Apply to Each don't actually need one. I've reviewed a lot of flows built by well-meaning makers. The pattern is always the same: someone needs to process a list, they drop in an Apply to Each, it works, they move on. The problem isn't that it doesn't work. It's that each step inside an Apply to Each counts as a separate action execution. 100 items with 3 actions inside = 300 executions. Get close to your daily limit and Power Automate starts throttling, flows slow down, queue up, or fail silently. The alternatives that most makers simply don't know about: → Select, transform an array in a single action execution → Filter Array, remove items in a single action execution → Join, concatenate a list into a string, one action → Data Operations in general, criminally underused Yes, these still iterate internally, but they count as one action execution regardless of array size. Fewer executions means more headroom before throttling kicks in. The reason 70% of makers still reach for Apply to Each? They don't know these exist. Power Automate doesn't exactly advertise them. If your flows are slowing down or failing unexpectedly, check your Apply to Each first. Chances are you don't need it. I help SMEs get more out of Microsoft Power Platform. If your flows could use a second opinion, let's talk. 🔽
Apr 2026Your best employee just resigned. They built the flow that runs your invoicing. They knew how the integrations worked. They were the only one who understood the process. And now they're gone. This happens in every SME that relies on one person for their digital processes. It's not a people problem. It's a systems problem. When your processes live inside one person's head, or one person's laptop, you're one resignation away from chaos. The fix isn't hiring faster. It's building processes that don't depend on any single person. That's exactly what I help SMEs do. Documented. Automated. Maintained. Every month. Book a free call if this sounds familiar. 👇
