LinkedInEconomic Growth

Since 2018, America’s electrical manufacturers have invested more than $200 billion to strengthen the grid, power millions of homes and businesses, and provide hundreds of thousands of good-paying jobs. We're poised to invest billions more to deliver energy security, a robust American manufacturing base, and long-term economic growth. That’s the message behind the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) 's new national ad campaign highlighting the values and contributions of the electroindustry. As NEMA marks a century of leadership, I’m proud to help tell that story — and proud of our 300+ member companies whose technologies power, connect, and light our world. After many incredibly rewarding years at National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) , I’m sharing that I’ll be leaving soon, and it’s a little bittersweet. This was my second stint at NEMA, and my time here adds up to over 13 lucky years! I re-joined NEMA because I wanted to work on things that matter, with people who care about getting them right. I’ve stayed these past 7 years because NEMA treats standards not as paperwork, but as living infrastructure. NEMA leadership, members, and staff know that standards are something worth investing in, improving, and occasionally debating passionately (ideally over coffee… or something stronger). I’ve had the distinct privilege of working with outstanding colleagues, members, volunteers, and partner organizations to advance codes, standards, and technical policy that support safety, innovation, and interoperability across the electrical industry. Thank you to everyone that has collaborated with, challenged, and supported me over the years. I’m looking forward to continuing many of these conversations in a new capacity (more on that soon). #itsastandardsthing

President Trump just renewed his call for federal agencies to “buy American” and strengthen enforcement of domestic-content requirements. That conversation comes just days after the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) launched a new campaign focused on the role America’s electrical manufacturers play in building critical infrastructure, strengthening supply chains, and supporting domestic manufacturing growth. A central focus of the campaign is NEMA’s Make It American™ program, which helps manufacturers demonstrate domestic content through third-party certification and a public registry — giving manufacturers, contractors, and public agencies trusted tools to help keep infrastructure projects moving. Over the coming weeks, the campaign will appear across social media, podcasts, streaming platforms, digital media, and national outlets including The Wall Street Journal . We'll be working to reach policymakers in Congress and at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development , US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) , the Office of Management and Budget , the Department of Commerce , and other agencies; #infrastructure stakeholders; and the broader #energy and #manufacturing community. I’m proud of the work NEMA’s 300+ member companies are doing to help build a stronger, more resilient American manufacturing base. Watch our ad here:

Two important conversations this week on what it will take to power what’s next. At the United States Energy Association in Washington, I joined Mark W. Menezes for a discussion about the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) 's role in the energy sector, rising electricity demand, and the policies needed to support grid investment, manufacturing growth, and long-term competitiveness. Also in Washington, at Data Center World AFCOM , I joined Amanda Trumble of ABB and Randy Sadler of Weidmuller USA for a media roundtable on the infrastructure, workforce, and policy challenges emerging alongside rapid data center growth. Across both conversations, the message was clear: meeting this moment will require building at speed and scale, with stronger domestic capacity, smarter policy, and a more modern, resilient electric system. Recordings from both conversations will be shared in the coming days.

Earlier this week, we had some great company at the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) for Bring Your Child to Work Day! It was a lot of fun to welcome the next generation into the office, spend time together over lunch, and give them a glimpse of the work our industry does every day to power American homes, hospitals, factories, data centers, and communities. The U.S. electroindustry is about building the systems that make modern life possible, and it was a good reminder that the future we talk so much about is sitting right in front of us. A big thanks to our team for helping make the event so much fun. And to NEMA's young visitors: you brightened our day! #BringYourChildToWorkDay #NEMA100 #FutureOfWork #MakeItElectric

Great conversation at the ANSI OMF meeting, featuring a robust agenda, thoughtful discussion, and a fun and engaging case study. The group tackled a wide range of timely topics, including the current deregulatory environment, streamlining standards development, AI and standards development, and digital standardization—all sparking meaningful exchange and practical insights. Many thanks to the ANSI - American National Standards Institute for convening, Bradley Wilder, PE, CAE , Vice Chair, for excellent leadership, and to all of the speakers for sharing their perspectives and driving such a productive dialogue. Finally, thanks to my organization, National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) for the continued support and flexibility to engage with other SDOs and continue to learn! If you participated in the meeting, let me know what you thought - good, bad, or ugly! #itsastandardsthing

🌎 North America’s electrical manufacturers are deeply connected. That’s a strength worth protecting. 🤝 The National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) has joined our counterparts in Mexico and Canada to urge policymakers to renew and strengthen the #USMCA during its upcoming review period. 🏭 Why? Because electrical equipment is foundational to nearly everything we are trying to build right now: a stronger grid, more domestic manufacturing, and the infrastructure needed to support America’s AI leadership. 🔗The USMCA has helped strengthen regional supply chains, reduce reliance on imports from outside North America, and support major investment across the electrical manufacturing sector. Now is the time to build on that progress — not fragment it. In our joint letter with CANAME - Cámara Nacional de Manufacturas Eléctricas and Electro-Federation Canada (EFC) , we urge negotiators to focus on three priorities: ⚡ Stronger technical standards harmonization ⚡ Rules-of-origin changes developed in consultation with industry ⚡ Preserving the trilateral structure of the agreement ✅ A stronger USMCA means a stronger North American electrical supply chain — and more certainty for the manufacturers building our energy and economic future. ➡️ Read more here: https://lnkd.in/e8TeG8aH
