🔥Stop blaming the AV hardware. Sometimes the real problem is the network design. Last week I was involved in an AV project with ticking audio, unreliable behavior and a system that failed expectations. The first conclusion by the owner was predictable: 💣 “The AV hardware must be the problem. Replace it.” But once we looked deeper, the real issue surfaced. 💣 The network wasn’t old. 💣 It wasn’t a generic office network. 💣 It was installed specifically for AV. And still, it became the bottleneck. 🧩 Why? Because a network installed for AV is not automatically an AV network. 💡 Topology matters. 💡 Switch selection matters. 💡 Multicast behavior matters. 💡 Latency, jitter and uplink capacity matter. In this case, a daisy‑chain switch design looked fine on paper — until real‑time audio, high‑resolution video and control traffic shared the same paths. 🔦 And audio is unforgiving. A small network instability doesn’t look like a “network issue” to the end user. 🧩 It sounds like ticking audio. 🧩 It feels like unreliable AV hardware. That’s why I wrote this blog: A network for AV is not an AV network. 👉 [link to Englisch blog] https://lnkd.in/ekteSM5z 👉 [link to Dutch blog] https://lnkd.in/euA3p7vv 💬 Challenge to AV & IT professionals: 💡 Before replacing AV hardware, ask for the network diagram. Have you seen AV hardware blamed while topology or switch choice was the real issue? What’s the most painful AV‑over‑IP network problem you’ve encountered? Happy reading. #AVoverIP #ProAV #NetworkDesign #ITAV #Audiovisual #SystemIntegration #Multicast #Dante #AES67 #AVTweeps Arend Karssies , Simon Bol , Deep Johal , Johan Hoel , Bertil Persson , Susana Teixeira , Miek Hubert NETGEAR Benelux , NETGEAR ProAV Nordics
May 2026What is the use of SMPTE 2110 ans PTP protocol in Broadcast Industry .. Ans:- SMPTE ST 2110 and Precision Time Protocol are transforming the broadcast industry by enabling fully IP-based live production workflows. SMPTE ST 2110 allows video, audio, and metadata to travel separately over standard IP networks, delivering greater flexibility, scalability, and high-quality content transmission. PTP ensures nanosecond-level synchronization across cameras, switches, servers, and production systems, replacing traditional black burst timing. Together, they help broadcasters achieve seamless live production, low latency, accurate lip-sync, remote broadcasting capability, and efficient infrastructure management. These technologies are now becoming the backbone of modern sports, news, esports, and OTT broadcast environments. #broadcast #avoverip #sdvoe #ptp #smpte2110 #networking #switches #netgear
